Hey guys
Would a gun rack with a locking bar be considered legal. I believe you would need to have trigger locks on each gun. I'm wondering if this would be considered unsafe storage for non-restricted rifles and shotguns?
Thanks
Bill

as much as we'd all love to return to the 70's and earlier, I think non-restricteds have to be stored out of sight in a locked vehicle....

never forget it...in 1987 we took a trip into the Van BC area and crossed the border into Washington State and took the first hiway east, over the Cascades...ended up in a little town called Winthrop....it was mid October and the pickups parked on main street were sporting gun racks in the rear windows...and even a couple decent mulie bucks could be seen in the boxes.....gotta love a gun rack and a couple rifles in the window of an old pickup....

There are three methods described in the regulations for storage in the home of non-restricted firearms: removal of bolt; a locked container; a locking device rendering the firearm inoperative. This is in addition to the firearm being unloaded. A rack with a locking bar does not meet any of these standards, unless the rack or locking bar were to render the firearm inoperative. A locking rack could certainly be used in a locked room or cabinet for additional security and theft resistance.

Wouldn't a trigger lock be a locking device which renders the firearm inoperative?
