Going to be building a new gun room, other than the obvious reloading bench, safe, ammo locker... What features of your own rooms can you not live without, or what do you wish you had [ hot tubs and big screen tv's excluded I can figure that out myself ;) ]

Thanks, I value your opinions.

a solid core door and a dead bolt on it going into the room , this prevents people from screwing with things or " borrowing " stuff when your not around .
it also adds one more obstacle to anyone intent on trying to steal your firearms .

make the work bench several times heavier than you think it will need to be , with a bottom shelf .
the bottom shelf on mine has a couple hundred pounds of steel plate on it to make the whole bench much much more stable .

Bottom roller tool cabinets that fit under the bench.
Craftsman is good. Snap On or Mac if you really want to go first class.

- Lighting - a mix of overhead and flexible work lamps.
- A simple 2 or 3 gun open rack for holding firearms that are waiting their turn on the bench.
- A vice with leather jaw protectors
- A hardware rack/drawer system to organize all of the fiddly bits, like cleaning jags, scope ring screws, etc.

I would not have thought of the gun rack, but can't even imagine how useful that will be.
