Gun shop question....

Generally I'm a big fan of MYOB. On one occasion however I prevented an elderly woman from being conned out of two Lee Enfield Jungle Carbines that were still in the cosmoline wrapping. The clerk said he was doing her a favour by offering $50 for both of them. I let the woman know what the rifles were really worth and she left with them. I was asked to leave a gun store and never return

The only other times I've helped out is when asked by a friend or family member.

If I were you I would not go back to that store regardless. $50 bucks for cosmoline wrapped jungle carbines is just crooked.

The only time I spoke up was over ammunition and it was in a hardware store. The customer was looking for 308 and the young fellow behind the counter couldn't find any, the store had a small selection. I was hanging back and just half paying attention since I was actually looking at fishing lures when I heard the clerk say, "All I have is this". The customer says that they don't look like the ones he remembers but he'll take them.
At this point, I see the box and it says 308 Marlin Express. Now I start paying attention as neither party really seems to know what was going on and if he owned a 308 Marlin Express he would know that he had a 308 Marlin Express. I move on over and excuse myself to ask a few questions like does your rifle say 308 Win on it? Anyway, he decided to check before he bought and use the wrong rounds. The youngster didn't seem to mind because he wasn't really sure what was going on anyway.

I keep my business my business and let everyone else worry about everyone else.

With the world as it is today, it takes 5 minutes to google search a gun and find a TON of info on it... Ive done it IN stores on guns I thought I saw for a good price.

Gun shop employees should be knowledgeable and so should buyers....

I will only speak up if I hear poor legal advice... By poor i mean wrong.

Mind you I have purchased a shotgun of an elderly man trying to sell it... Store offer'd him $75 I walked right up to him and offer'd him $160... He took it, the store did try and offer $180 after that.... He was pissed and scolded the, sold me the 12ga...

Was a nice old functioning pump wingmaster....
