Gun Show Impulse Buy - Show Yours Off

Pretty sure I opened with a taste of vinegar, honey pot was dry. He did claim at one point that it was because I had used a once fired shell and "they do not eject" :|

Show was in the outer limits, Dawson Creek BC. A little slice of Alberta...

Some cool guns to be seen by Canadian gunsmiths.

Glad it worked out... not sure about your sleeved rifle, but I do love the .348 cartridge... I have always wanted to do one on a Ruger No.1 International.

^ gun shows sucker me in with "cool" stuff and I overpay for it. I'm almost ready for it going in at this point.

I did actually get what I would consider to be a good deal on another rifle at the show.

I'm honestly not sure what is going on in terms of the barrel and conversion. Seems sound though, but then again...

One way to tell... start with a soft load, wear shooting glasses and rotate your arm under the receiver for the first few rounds.

Stumbled across a Colt 6940 Monolithic 5.56mm Upper Receiver at the recent Calgary show, but had no immediate intention of buying. The price was so good however, and the Wife was being unusually reasonable, so I snapped it up. It is the perfect 5.56mm conversion Receiver for my Colt LE 901 .308 Modular Carbine....

I haven't been to a gun show in years. We only have two here. The one in the spring is in a crappy venue and so cramped for space that the clostiphoby acts up and drives me out. The one in the fall is on Labour Day Weekend and have other plans, usually a large shutdown job in the refinery.

I would tell you to stop showering and don’t use deodorant for a week before and you will have room, but I think that’s a strategy most gunshow frequenters already use....

This years chicken gun for the princely sum of $50
An old Cooey .410 that had seen better days but the bore was excellent. Stripped, bleached and oiled the wood, cleaned and polished the innards and hit it with G96 Gun Blue.

Smell old men in mall worn camo. Yuk

Lol, listen Gramps buy a plane ticket, go to calgary next spring. I just did the Waverly show, typical of Old maritime shows, but the Pictou and even Truro show usually werent that cramped, or fragrant

For the price of a round trip Air Canada ticket East to West you could buy a Ruger No.1.

I had a table at Orangeville, Ontario, show earlier this year (thanks to LawrenceN's help) and sales were slowwww. I think also for all the other exhibitors. Came home with basically all my inventory but one. Did move a set of pistols but to another vendor for cash and this MacNaughton from Edinburgh:

Sorry, for some reason the photos all came out blurry. Long day I guess.
The contacts I made at that show lead to another couple high value purchases so looks like I'm going to be driving my 2008 SUV for a few more years. On balance pretty happy about the experience. Its not as crowded on the other side of the table, either.
