Gun show in Calgary???

The date change, from the long lasting Easter date, and the brutal economy in Alberta should have very limited buyers. Because gun show sellers don't move prices down that easily on their treasures.

I think that attendance might be a little below average because of the Alberta economy, however, many go to get the hell out of the house to view the multitude of firearms. I'll be picking up my custom 270 Win. from a custom gun maker who will have a booth. I know of one particular rifle that I love and will purchase, that's if the vendor still has it. I'm attending with guns a-blazing! LOL!!!

Fewer exhibitors, still lots of people. Didn’t see too many guns going out the door.
Lever action Winchester’s everywhere. More knives then ever.
Good show but I didn’t think it was as good as previous years for sporting arms.
 
I saw very few transactions taking place, a sign of the times I think. Seemed like a slower start than usual and not as many folks later either.
I came away empty handed and that doesn't happen often. There was a real nice Broadway Trap on a table and I talked to the guy for a bit, he wanted $2400 for it and I didn't have the heart to tell him I picked one up this winter that was almost as nice for $1100.
 
Picked up an unfired Colt 6940 Monolithic Upper Receiver with BCG to go with my Colt LE901 .308 Modular Carbine for $950, which was (to me) a decent deal....

I passed on a well-priced FN FS2000 Bullpup rifle ($2600) with 500 rds down the pipe. It was sold when I went back to take another look, so some guns were moving. Not much "tacticool" guns and gear as compared to milsurp and well-used commercial firearms. The milsurps seemed to be astronomically priced at $2500 for decent M1 Garands, $800 for uninsured Serb SKSs in the cosmoline, etc. But maybe I'm just out of touch WRT milsurp prices....

I guess that you must of missed me going out the door. Two bags of shotgun ammo, reloading dies, gun case and two rifles. One a custom, the other a factory. There were lots of people as usual (thousands), and notice a few guns going out the door. I did just as much visiting as I did shopping. Nice to see old faces and welcomed new ones.

There were a lot of nagant carbine’s this year I noticed as well as some SVT 40’s. My father found a Nagant revolver, pretty awesome for militaría that’s for sure!

Two guns and bags of shot gun shells is a far cry from the days where there was a 50 yrd line up to get guns checked before you could take them to the parking lot. This wasn't my first Calgary gun show...

How did your 270 turn out?
 
A lot of the same old guys trying to sell the same old over priced guns and accessories ..........been going over 25 years now probably not next year.

EM Precision did a bloody marvelous job on the 270 Win........exactly what I wanted. I have all my reloading components and will commence development in the near future. I also picked-up a Brno 21H chambered in the 7x57 Mauser with double-set triggers (98% condition). This slender, sleek light weight rifle will be my stalking rifle for the bush. I returned home singing like a meadowlark perched on a fence post.::d:d:d
 
I dropped a couple of grand on guns and etc....and my son won a 1st prize for his display table...tiring but a good time.

Fantastic show again , lots of variety in merchandise but the wallets were tight, a sign of Alberta’s economy .
Exceptional effort put in but the displayers and historical re enactors.
Enjoyed the rest area tables and of course the stories ....
Looking forward to Easter 2020 show .

Nice haul!
I picked up a Remington 700 Boone and Crockett Laminate fluted in 270 win there.
It slipped into a spare wildcat stock I had and was happy after driving tacks with it this afternoon...
Couldn't restrain myself. What else is new...:jerkit:

I had a couple of tables at the show this year, my 7th year. I had a great weekend because I priced my stuff well. People were not stupid with their offers. Best part of the show is talking to other vendors and the general public. Learned a thing or two and educated a few. Next year may be my last as I really don’t have much to sell and most of my father’s and my high end stuff will be going down to the US.
