i just bought a colt 1911 commercial (1914) this weekend:dancingbanana:
somebody bastardized it slightly over the years, so i need to find some parts for it. its a start though, figured i should have one of the originals. my springfields might get a bit neglected now.

if i had in my greasy mitts i would post pics. gotta wait for the transfer. i'm looking into its history, its got a name, rank, etc. engraved on the right side of the slide (hopefully not some jerk who did it recently).

the sights were changed, wraparound grips added, slide stop changed, a small hole drilled in the right side of the frame ( i assume for mounting something?), no lanyard ring, and the frame has had some material removed to the rear of the thumb safety on both sides (possibly for a different grip safety at one point).

putting "correct" parts back on it probably won't increase its value much since the frame has been butchered, but i would like to have it as original as possible. it is tight, functions well, and the finish is all right, so it should make a nice shooter, i hope. if it had been all-original, i probably couldn't afford it:).
