Gun Shows

Nope. All you need is $5.00.

$7.00 in Markham, all other shows are still $5.00. Ladies (you can always dress up :)) and visitors under the age of 16 are free.

I have gone from a regular to a sporadic gun show attendee. The best one in Ontario would be Orangeville followed by Woodstock and Ancaster. They are run by the same people so you'll see a lot of the same faces although no two gun shows are exactly alike.

How much you get out of a gun show depends on your expectations, your knowledge and ability to negotiate. Many guns start out over priced but dealers will negotiate and if you know your stuff you can find some good deals at shows. They are are also a resource for various parts, out of production guns and other items the retail gun shops don't carry.

Even if you don't buy anything there's lots to see and they aren't a bad way to spend a Sunday morning

How closely supervised by Law Enforcement are these gun shows? Can anyone walk in and buy a firearm like in the US? I've never been to a gun show in Canada, but, the shows in the US are just crazy.

Don't have a PAL eh! Don't worry all firearms laws are followed at these shows and yes the CFO usually has reps at the shows.

And as far as US gunshows go, private sellers do not need a FFL and are not required to do checks, if you are considered a dealer under Federal Law you must do background checks. Obama is trying to change the definition of a dealer with his new proposals to cut down on private sellers at gun shows and elsewhere. If I remember right the % is 60% dealer to 40% private seller, I would have to look that one up so don't quote me on it.

If you have a valid firearms license (PAL), you can walk in and buy a non-restricted firearm and walk out with it. If you don't have a PAL, no seller who wants to avoid a criminal prosecution and keep themselves out of prison will sell you a firearm.

I try to keep open mind when going to gun show. Most of the times stuff is overpriced, yes but I almost always manage to find some useful gun related gem and every time I meet fellow GC members and some CGNers I know. It's never wasted time.I got few really good rifle deals, some reloading stuff for cheap too.As for sometimes crazy prices just like with everything-things are only worth what someone is willing to pay. What I don't get is multitude of tables with knifes when very few folks seem to bother to look at them.i found a lot of very good books on shows-books I can't find anywhere, never mind good price.

One day I would like to go check US show just to compare experience.I'm told our shows have a lot better deals on some things and crappy on others. Each to their own.

You might get more relevant answers if you info at least stated your general area of residence. There will be a show in April some time in Sudbury and one following later in North Bay.

im only going to be in Ontario for a few days and plan to attend the Orangevilie gun show .Thanks everyone for the useful info really appreciated ,looking forward to the show
