I already posted this in the gun smith section. I have purchased a British 12G SxS box lock, Charles Hellis and Sons Ltd. I would like to know who in Canada is competent and Familiar with cleaning inspecting such a gun. This gun is a great little gun but not in the Best Gun category ie H&H

Funny these 2 names come up, they used to be partners way back 25 years ago.
Stewart left Precision to start on his own just outside napanee and moved to BC from there about 5 years ago.
Stewart does great work but he over charges on pick up.
I had left 3 Doubles with him over the years and all 3 times the price was almost double the original quote.

You'll also be waiting a long time to have the work done at Precision Arms. I was happy with the work but waiting about 3 months to have a stock shortened was a bit much.

I spoke with Lisa at Precision Arms her husband was busy working. I sent Precision Arms and Leslie Paul emails. I also spoke with Nick Makinson and Leslie Paul on the phone Both Gentlemen seem knowledgeable and polite I did receive an email from Leslie Paul and I am waiting on an email from Steve Milton. I also would like to speak with Steve as well. I make sure I ask a smith the real time it will take to start and finish the work. It is important to really start out on a good note and both parties to have an understanding of the real time schedule whether that be 2 or 6 months. Most gunsmiths I have spoken to usually have a 4-6 month back log. I want to know right up front. Knowing this saves allot of frustration for both parties.

Nick Makinson and Les Paul both do great work.

I hade Nick re-colour case and old 20 Ga boxlock and rust blue the barrels. Both came out as if straight from the factory, very very pleased and price quoted was the price paid. Also completed when I was told it would be.
