Hey,
I was at the local outdoors store this evening buying some last minute supplies for my camping trip this weekend. Thought I'd take a look at what they had to use as a camp/bear gun. I was searching for a H&R Tamer all week but no one in Canada has any in stock. Anyway....
I see they have a Boito hiker .410, 12" shotgun. I ask to take a look at it and mention that I would want to load it with slugs. The salesman proceeds to tell me how if I shot slugs out of such a short barrel that I would blow up the gun.
Now, I'm no expert, but I can't for the life of me figure out how that would be even remotely possible. I can see how muzzle velocity would be diminished shooting out of a shorter barrel, but that's it.
NO SALE!
I guess I'm taking my TOZ 20ga bolt action with me. It's a little long for my purposes, but it's pretty light weight. I might even get to shoot some small game if something crosses my path. A little rabbit or pheasant will be a great treat.
