Gun Store Policy re handling firearms

What am I missing here? Because it sounds like you were able to purchase a gun with a forged PAL (modifying an ID in any way makes it a forged ID, even if it started out as a legitimate ID -- and covering up part of the ID with some tape is modifying it). Hopefully I'm misunderstanding your story...

Someones been smoking that whacky tobacco , cause the store would not be so foolish as to sell a firearm without an Valid PAL or Valid RPAL for that matter.
I think the guy above you is a few months late or early for an April fools joke.
The $50.00 he is bragging about lkely amounts to the 10% discount they are having right now.
With the number of complaints about No Sale Sports and their store policies I second the Bravo Sierra being talked about.
Best Regards,
Rob

From what I understand places that sell more then just firearms have different rules then places that sell only firearms and other related items. I know taking my kid brother with me around to other shops that seems to be the thing no card no hands on gunny guns...

I just want to add that you are dealing with a CT after all. I don't kn ow about you, but in my town CT has a reputation for having the worst customer service of all time.

I like the products they sell, but I am always dealing with miserable/clueless employees. I think it's a growing trend among the minimum wage work force... and this goes for more than just them really, but all of us who are not at the top imo... It's not acceptable for this kind of customer service... but I can kind of understand. hell, I am not much better off either.

A real gun store would probably get you better service however.

congrats on getting your licence and happy shooting!

Both gun stores that I frequent have never asked to see my PAL until I am at the till with a gun. But I guess I generally go to buy, I dont go to browse. Thats what the internet is for. lol

Wholesale Sports in Westbank also didn't ask to see anything when I wanted to check out some guns.

I have heard this is the policy at another local gun store, but they dont follow their own policy, as my buddy without a PAL has been in there before handling firearms.

You have got to do what I did today. I am still laughing. I went to Wholesale sports and asked for a specific rifle. The guy asked to see the card so I showed him a valid POL license (not the pal) he brought out the rifle and I handled it. I then said I want it and handed him the Visa. He asked for the PAL so I handed him the POL license. He looked at it and said I cannot allow the sale due to insufficient licensing. I told him I wanted the rifle and would he PLEASE call someone who would authorize it or get approval. Over comes the store manager and after hearing from the employee, He stated we cannot by law sell me the firearm and that handling it was the limit of my license in their store. I told him I would like to bet him 50 bucks that when they call the RCMP for approval it will go through. I told him I found a loophole and was purchasing the rifle to prove as much. He would not bet me and I said you will either walk out of here with 50 bucks or lose 50 bucks and I pulled out a 50 and handed it to the employee and said you are the referee. He said it won't go through but OK. I handed him the POL license. Fortunately I had taken a small piece of tape and written the number 4 on it and it covered up what was the 3 on my POL license. The number did not change when I upgraded to a PAL except the very last digit which I had covered up. I also told the manager he needed to talk to the RCMP as though it were a PAL license and if it were approved, together we could take it to the newspapers. I think he was more than a little PO'D that I got 50 off the rifle when I told him how I did it. He must have thought we were going to be on national TV when they gave the OK.

Some people have way too much time on their hands....
