Hello,

Besides Colby & Epps, are there any other gun stores in Toronto and Area that actually have good selection on hand to see and handle ?
PISTOLS is what I'm after, not long guns.. lots of those around..
not online type business
Is Giovannis's still open ? others ?

If you are in the GTA, have a valid passport, and don't mind making the extra bit of time to get there. I would highly recommend visiting yhe Buffalo Gun Center!

You basically take the same route, as if you are heading to the Buffalo airport, only you exit and go west on #33 to Harlem, take a right and less than a half km, they are on the right.

Great selection of hand guns, long guns, lots of accessories, etc.

What's cool, and something I wasn't aware of until recently. BGC will sell to Canadians, process all the paper work and then meet you at the Can. border with the gun/papers for you to legally import the pistol into Canada!!!

I know a few guys that have done this, I plan to purchase a new pistol there soon.

Besides, great place to "window shop"!!

o.k. thanks.. maybe will make trip down to buffalo, if pretty much ALL brands & types are availble to fondle, maybe worth it, even if not buy from there, depending on price, as some are about the same here, some are higher...
actually, it's not even for me.. have new friend getting into shooting and want to bring him to see as many guns as possible before making 1st purchase... and always fun to look at guns, etc...

The Gun Centre in Kitchener has a selection of hand guns as well. I was there yesterday and they had about two dozen on hand, plus more coming almost daily. Give them a call and see if they have what you are looking for. Plus they had a Tavor as well, cool little black gun!

Again, if you and your friend want to see a LOT of pistols, long guns and other cool stuff, and you don't mind the drive, the BGC is the place I would recommend.

I would estimate the number of pistols to be in the hundreds! They have display cabinets full of each design, make, caliber, both new and used.
I was there a few weeks ago and they had a Barret and a Steyr .50BMG on display for me to drool over!

The guys that work there are all really friendly, they will chat to you about guns and let you handle any gun that catches your eye.

For gun 'window shopping' you won't be disappointed.

And the best part.................if something does catch your eye...........you can buy it and have it legally imported into Canada.
Some of the pistols are the same price, or close to what we pay, however some others cost less (even after their export fee is included), and what's really nice is that they stock guns we rarely see, or have to wait months to get.

Al Flahertys has a decent stock, you just have to ask

Yup i agree, great group of guys there. I have bought quite a few of pistols there, every time i go in. I find out they have something else i want. Now i know i can pretty much ask them for anything.

Target Sports has a good selection. Just haven't heard good things about their customer service.

Been to Target Sports late last year for my CZ 85 Combat - Satin Nickel. A lot of new faces and definitely better than the old faces I saw more than a year ago. They have decent selections and I was lucky enough to have a knowledgeable staff attending to my need.

o.k. thanks.. plenty of places to eventually see mostly what anyone would want to buy..
goiong over border is longer trip and maybe not worth it if gun he chooses is commonly available here... and no extra fees and $60 in round trip gas...
but sounds like a place I want to drop into eventually.

Just a suggestion. If you can, make your best effort to shop at Canadian retailers if they can meet the demand. It is fine to go to BGC if they are doing something our retailers can't or won't, or are really not competitive, but otherwise we will help build the industry only if we speak with our dollars.

The dearth of Canadian retailers, and the even more dearthy "in stock and on display" retail experience will only get better if we shop Canadian.

How much extra do they charge for Canadian exports?

From what I recall, they charge $100.00 plus 5% of the price of the gun to process the paperwork, then drive to the border with the gun to meet you.

I have not purchased a gun from them yet, so I am don't know much more than the above. To date, I have purchased most of my guns from the EE, and one new one locally from Al Simmons.

For window shopping, which the OP seemded to want to do, I thought it would be a neat place to tour and look around if he had the time.

Giovannis is no more...closed a couple of years ago.

The only place in Toronto that has handguns is Al Flaherty's.

Problem is, they're not on display.

There's a very good selection & good prices there but you've either got to ask or look through their website.

Great people to deal with.

Could not agree more with you on that issue. Seem to keep a relativley nice selection of stock while "some" of the staff seem like they just dont give a rats ass about the customer or have no clue into anything firearms related.

I'm leaning towards the "rats ass" side of it. Most of them have an air of arrogance about them. Doesn't give you that warm fuzzy feeling that lets you open your wallets and spend.
