Gun that won't bench

. A long winded reply to say if not happy move on to something that works for you. Best of luck :)

Well actually it works very well for me. Believe it or not a gun that's more at home off hand is not a hinderance given it's somewhat more a nuisance to drag a bench through the bush. That being said I have found it interesting how some guns want to be on bags, but ONLY if my hand is between gun and said bag

On a related note, fore-end shapes that are great for fitting the shooters hand may not ride a bag worth a darn. A slab sided lever-action carbine sits on a sandbag like trying to balance a pea on a watermelon, but is perfect for how it was supposed to be used. Even a round profile forend on a bolt action like a Kimber may take a firmer grip than a flat bottomed Weatherby to minimize the effects of torque and maintain level.

I rest my single break actions with the QD Forend Knob resting on the bag... The threaded shaft is bottomed in the lug and the barrel is full length bedded in the forearms... Results in consistent POI, even after disassembly and reassembly... Kinda defies the "two piece stock on bag" rule, which I also have noted.
