Gun theft in Edmonton.

My guns were stolen.

Good idea/bad idea to post the details here in case anyone comes across them?

I'm in no legal trouble.

It wouldn't hurt to post a list of what was stolen so the rest of the locals can keep it in mind. ####ty deal though, that must be a terrible feeling losing your collection.
 
My condolences. If you don't mind, I'd be interested to hear the circumstances of the theft. That way we all can try to improve our storage solutions to avoid suffering the same loss.
 
If some of the guns are of the collectable type (old sxs for e.g.), the market is not huge and one of us may come across one of yours in our travels. One of my neighbours had his complete collection stolen a couple years ago. They simply took the whole safe. Obviously a pro. A very tough day for you.
 
I just moved to Edmonton a week or so ago. Yes, it was rather fast, wasn't it? I'm devastated.

The details don't matter so much, save that I am in no legal jeopardy. But if you are in the Edmonton Area and happen to come across any of these, can you please contact the police?

M305 **724 (trigger group) **86 (receiver) USGI stock, match mainspring rod
Savage 30J ****048 (Receiver) Great sentimental value
Stevens 520 **786 (Tube), stock cut-down for a shorter shooter, wood refinished (poorly in my estimation and I did it) Barrel pitted, rt-hand extractor broken
Winchester 1901 10ga **314 (Receiver) cracked stock on the grip
Winchester 1907 **400 (Receiver), cracked stock
Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 Izhevsk 1943 ***381 (Multiple), Correct sling and aftermarket camouflaged stock pouch and barrel sleeve
SVT-40 Tula 1943 **07 (Electro Pencil, various parts), correct SVT-40 sling, multi-baffle muzzle brake

Magazines were stored separately, so the M305, 1907 and SVT-40 would all be without magazines (Take that scumbags!)

A small quantity of 12ga buckshot was stolen as well and a Cold Steel Gladius Machete but we're kind of burying the lead with that.

Sorry to hear. An old friend of mine recently moved back into his wife's house (he has several homes) and when I dropped by I found the box for his norinco M305 sitting at the curb in their recycling bin including the foam insert just in case nobody recognized the Norinco box with the model on it! I took it inside and explained his naivte to him (he's 75). Then I asked if he got the movers to handle anything else gun related. Apparently he had them not only move his big gun cabinet into place but every single one of his 12 or so cased rifles and shotguns! For the next few months I'm storing his guns in my lockup until he feels more secure or gets an alarm. Paranoia may destroy ya, but in moderation it'll also keep you and your stuff safe. Hope the bastards get nailed.

No it doesn't. Actual people stories suggests this is the most common outcome. Internet hysteria is to blame for people thing everyone victimized by theft goes to jail.

OP. The timing is conspicuous. Did the theft look random or targeted. I'd suspect the moving company, if there was one.

I don't think you need to bother with pictures here. What you have posted is sufficient for anyone who who thinks they might have a hit to contact you for confirmation.

Also, The government of Canada has a free online portal to check CPIC if particular firearms have been reported stolen. http://app.cpic-cipc.ca/English/searchformfirearms.cfm

I assume you have reported the firearms stolen, you should run all the serial numbers through this tool to confirm that they if someone does check, it gets flagged appropriately. Often times guns reported stolen to not get registered as such in CPIC. If you don't get a hit, contact the officer who is assigned to your case and ensure he follows up to have the guns reported stolen properly.

When I moved into our house I moved mine in the truck. Backed into the garage so no one knew what I had.

Sorry to say, but don't trust movers.
