Gun theft in Edmonton.

That really sucks. There have been a lot of stolen guns lately in Edmonton. Makes a CCW look more and more needed.

The good news is that the machete will be taken off the street soon. Street people are constantly caught with knives of all sizes.

So sorry for your loss OP. So easy to feel victimized after a theft. I once had a truck stolen and wrecked after a joyride. It was recovered and fixed by insurance, but I felt violated. Sold it soon after, didn't even want it anymore. Good on you for storing the mags separately!

I just moved to Edmonton a week or so ago. Yes, it was rather fast, wasn't it? I'm devastated.

The details don't matter so much, save that I am in no legal jeopardy. But if you are in the Edmonton Area and happen to come across any of these, can you please contact the police?

M305 **724 (trigger group) **86 (receiver) USGI stock, match mainspring rod
Savage 30J ****048 (Receiver) Great sentimental value
Stevens 520 **786 (Tube), stock cut-down for a shorter shooter, wood refinished (poorly in my estimation and I did it) Barrel pitted, rt-hand extractor broken
Winchester 1901 10ga **314 (Receiver) cracked stock on the grip
Winchester 1907 **400 (Receiver), cracked stock
Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 Izhevsk 1943 ***381 (Multiple), Correct sling and aftermarket camouflaged stock pouch and barrel sleeve
SVT-40 Tula 1943 **07 (Electro Pencil, various parts), correct SVT-40 sling, multi-baffle muzzle brake

Magazines were stored separately, so the M305, 1907 and SVT-40 would all be without magazines (Take that scumbags!)

A small quantity of 12ga buckshot was stolen as well and a Cold Steel Gladius Machete but we're kind of burying the lead with that.

Thanks for your time.

PS: how are we doing pics now that Photobucket has sold out?

well that sucks.

and without that SVT40 mag, someone is going to be shocked to find out how much a replacement mag cost.

When I moved into our house I moved mine in the truck. Backed into the garage so no one knew what I had.

Sorry to say, but don't trust movers.

I plan on doing the same. Moving my safe to a friend's house while mine is listed so no one sees it if they check out my current home. I don't trust random peeps at all anymore.

Thank you for all the support guys.

I think they cased me out as military and the guns are just what they decided to steal in the time they had. They only took half of those anyways and very little ammo, so I think time was a factor.

I am rather expecting them to turn up, what with the no-mags thing. M305 mags are easy enough to come by, but if you thought SVT mags are difficult and costly, try '07 spares!!! Never mind the ammo.

The 10Ga can't even take 3.5" shells and I doubt the 520 is even working; it locked up on me last time I fired it and I had to detail-strip it and noticed a broken extractor (which I not have!)

And yeah; reported to the cops.

The best thing to do is buy a brand new memory card for your camera and take photos of all your guns and serials. Then store it in a different secure location. i.e. safety deposit box. So if something happens you have proof for the insurance company and LE agency.

This is an excellent idea and something I need to do

Photos are always appreciated by your insurance company, takes the guess work out and gives police a better idea than a written description.

Had all mine stolen in 86 while my daughter was critically ill but none of the rifles had the bolts stored with them plus they missed my Parker and my Dad's old 22 so that was good. They caught the little ba$tard$ but the guns and all the other items were long gone and of course they all got suspended sentences despite the $10k crime spree they were on. I had pictures and copies of all the serial numbers so other than running around the insurance company had no issues.

I'd be concerned round two is coming.
I tend not to keep shewters all in one area.

Hopefully one day the law will decide to hand out them ten year
holidays rather than gift them kawksewkerzs the ..............:rey2

If they HaD been in a central storage lock-up this wouldn’t have happened!

If the criminal filth had been in central storage ie ...jail, this would not have happened. But that's little too much to ask in Trudeau's Canada.

UPDATE!

The cops found all my guns!

I get them back after the evidence people are done dusting them. The cop I spoke to did not seem to be too up on types of guns, but I asked and he said it looked like someone had tried to chop down one of the shotgun barrels, but he told me it waa not the thing to render it a prohib and it did not sound like it was un-usable.

I will keep you posted.

Another board I'm on has a dedicated BOLO thread for serials of stolen guns after one of ours had an SKS jacked in an armed robbery set up as "buy." Might such an idea be worth considering here?

OP, that sucks, GL with recovery.

That's a hell of an idea and we should have a sticky thread for it.
