Gun theft in Edmonton.

The cops still have my guns. Called and asked about timeframes; "Don't call us, we'll call you". How long does it take to fingerprint seven guns?

I hate this, because I know wherever they are, they aren't being any better cared for than they were in the back closet of the crack den they found them in.
 
UPDATE!

Got my guns back!

Most were in good shape. new stock dings, lost accesories; I got really lucky in the main.

The pricks did try and I mean they *tried* to chop the barrel on my 520. I suspect it is totally unsalvageable. I can't imagine any welding job could fix the massive gouge they put in it just south of the 17" mark. However, my research indicates that a gun smith could verify the fit and safety of a new barrel from another 520. Decent.

For reasons I can only ascribe to the influence of crystal meth and inadequate parenting, these cretins couldn't master the mysteries of the M14 buttstock trap and tried to *pry it open with a flat-tip screwdriver or chisel*. So I need to find a new butt trap lid, because they snapped that off. But otherwise, all seems good.

The evidence people were still telling me they couldn't prosecute without the actual guns, but the cops and everyone else say that's crazy.

So thanks for all your support. Next step is rehabilitating the damaged guns and getting in with a local club.

Also glad to see you didn't take a beating like I did when I posted that my place was broken into and all my firearms stolen.
I have been doing lots of legwork to try and recover mine....have a very good idea who was involved...but haven't seen much in the way of
results from names being put forward to police..(time will tell) or the retailers where I purchased them to retrieve serial numbers, except 1..ironically from a former sponsor who gets lambasted on here.
For those ready to pounce as to why they should etc., I had the info stored on a flash drive that I can't find...possibly taken by scumbags or accidentally thrown out while cleaning my place..which was totally trashed.
Any,once again..glad you got yours back!

Well, that certainly is some very good news.
How did they (Police) locate the firearms?
I hope you are insured and no further monitory loss is in your future with these guns.
What is with the discrepancy with the evidence folks and the police ?
Thats most confusing.

They can't tell me too much; but what I gather is two parts good old fashioned police work and one part known scumbag.

The evidence thing makes mine and everyone else's brain bleed when I run it by them. I was cool with them keeping them for upwards of a year if they HAD TO, but when the police and other people I know in Law were making it clear to me that was nonsense, I had to insist.

My new insurance package is through a professional fraternity and is dynamite. Covers everything in my place against everything except floods (which makes me nervous, but I am assured is the norm).

That was part of it. had to be the most useless load of stolen guns in history. I had yahoos telling me how they were going to do drive-bys with my magazine-less SVT and they'd just *find* ammo for my .351; some guy is going to stuff my Mosin down his pants and hold up a variety store, ect.
