Gun transfer

I checked the RCMP and couldn’t find the answer to my question.

I recently got my PAL and my buddy’s dad has a few hunting rifles. Unfortunately, his dad has dementia and no longer hunts and my buddy doesn’t want the rifles.

My question is, can my buddy act on his dad be-half (he doesn’t have a PAL if that matters) and follow the regular firearm transfer procedure outlined on the RCMP site? Thanks.

His son may not have power of attorney, or be the executor for the RCMP to allow them to be transferred. Also his father may have expired PAL etc.

Best just to take them and say nothing.

I agree best to just take them if they are alright with that. Its best they are in the hands of you, a holder of a PAL

One could also talk to one's provincial CFO. If they reside in a province with a good CFO, ie Alberta or BC.
