I wanted to pass on good things about Jason Spencer after again receiving excellent service with very fast turn around time and fair pricing. This time a Marlin 1895 45/70 was dropped off for rebarrelling on Saturday. My brother dropped it off at 12:00 right before Jason was closing up shop for the day. I got a call at 11:15 this morning to say that the barrel was head spaced and installed for $75.
To give this some perspective, Longs (the authorized Marlin repair center in Canada) told me it would be $350 for the barrel and the work. If you talk to Marlin the barrel is only worth about $70 US (or about $80 CDN) meaning that they were going to charge me almost four times what Spencer did.
I guess the lesson is that it pays to shop around and Jason Spencer is very much a gunsmith worth doing business with.
