Gunnutz who've used this AR carry handle:

If you just want something functional at a cheap price the NC Star / Norincos are fine - can't compare their quality or adjustments to other brands, but at a MUCH different price point. If you're thinking of putting an optic on, best to just avoid getting the handle, unless you change your mind.

If there is one thing that ought to be banned in the firearms world, it's the cheap-ass chinese bull#### like NCstar/UTG/whatever.

If you're thinking of optics at some point, as others have already said, get a BUIS instead. It stays on and holds zero (because you don't remove it) even if you mount something else on the rifle.

The AR I've ordered comes w/o any sight. It will require some time to research which optic will work best for me and what type of BUIS will best work with the optic I choose.
But in the meantime I just want to be able to get some rounds downrange, and the NcS handle is the least expensive way to (hopefully) get me on paper. Later, if I still like the idea of the carrying handle, I'll either modify the NcS or bin it and find something better. It's good to have options.
Thx to all for your suggestions, they were helpful in my decision making.
Watch for me on a new thread when I begin shopping for optics/BUIS! :0 )

Great AR choice... I've got a 7.5" myself and I love it.

As for the wife, take her with you to the range for the first day with the AR and insist you want her to have the 1st shot. That's what I usually do with any new acquisition that breaks the bank, and she always likes it. If she smiles you're off the hook (ala Homer Simpson) ;)

"Here ya go, darlin'..."

(HORRIFIED LOOK!) Ach! The last thing I'd do would be to put a loaded AR in her hands when I'm in the doghouse!!
("Here ya go, darlin', here's my new rifle. Be careful now, it's loaded. OK, yew take the first shot at whatever yew want to...")
Very, very B-A-D idea! :HR:
If she was that steamed, I would not want to be within range of her! ;0D
