bought this a couple weeks back, some pretty good articles on the steyr M95, Lebel, guns of the greco-turkish war, and even "duke" does a decent job on guns of the indian wars.

of course there is the usual fluff about the 1903 being the best rifle ever, the lee enfield being ugly, and of course the mitchell mauser stuff (apparently the gestapo was seizing hunting rifles from mauser and didn't have time to blue the bolts).

The gun rags have been re-heating these beans for the last 50 yrs or so. Say it enough and it must be true. Sometimes I still buy them for the pics, not for any new facts that they might contain.

Before the internet, i always enjoyed reading articles on Milsurp rifles & handguns, but now there is so much info about milsurp that it must be a tough way to make a living as a gun magazine writer,..you can only read so much info about how the 03 Springfield was thee best rifle ever..LOL

While it's "greatness" as a military rifle is debatable, the M1903 is a damn-nice rifle at the shooting range. Mostly due to the precision sights.

In battle, I'd have rather had an M1917...

Like others my 03A3 is my favorite military rifle for target shooting. One of my No 4 Lee Enfields would be a much better choice as a battle rifle.

well, the "guns of the greco-turkish war" is the first article i have seen on the topic and pretty much the reason i bought the mag.

Same here.
