I have been using an old cotton bedsheet for patches. As needed, tear into strips of whatever width one wants, then cut into squares for patches.

Keep it under the bench, always available, and still have quite a few hundred hundred to go before it is gone.

Go to a fabric store--purchase a meter or two of diaper flannel--take it home and run through washer and dryer--take sharp scissors and make as many as you need of whatever size. If you watch for sales it can get really cheap per patch.
