As I'm looking to add some gunsmith work to my regular business, the insurance search began a few months ago. Broker eventually found 1 really far out energy company in europe willing to take it on, couldn't even find their website.., still working out some details. Seems it would add roughly $1600 or so to my current liability policy which quite isn't as horrible as first expected(but still foolish), but due to having to change a few things from my current insurance I lose a few advantages of my current coverage which I trust more, but they want nothing to do with guns.... insurance is one place I don't like to have the eggs in too many baskets.

So I'm just wondering if anyone here might have a few names of other insurance companies that do insure gunsmith work that might have not been looked into, something north american would be great but they seems to be none.

Thanks for any input on this.

I believe Kodiak had mentioned a couple of firearm friendly business insurance companies around the time he was closing up shop, i'd recommend you try and get ahold of him. (If possible)

I'm sure everyone would love to hear the results of your search though, if you manage to find anything.

Can I email you at the info@canadaammo address? I don't want to take up much of your time but I'm interested in a bit more info on HUB and who they get the insurance through, they don't seem to have any offices in my area though.

Thanks

Interesting development, turns out the insurance I'm currently with has decided it will cancel all our policies, personal and business, if I do any firearm work, instead of just transferring the liability side, talk about paranoid eh.
So now its a new hunt for an entirely new coverage for everything, although it might not turn out to be such a bad thing, we'll see.

I looked a bit into that before but as far as I know in Canada incorporation only seem to protect from creditor liability. Product/service liability and negligence seems to have a lot of loopholes and to leave everyone, employees and all who came in contact with said product wide open for lawsuits.

Gotta have insurance anyhow for the court fees to be proven innocent and they won't give the gunsmith license without proof of insurance here, I don't know if its like that across canada ?

Lloyd's does appear to be the one that at least the liability will be with, not sure of all the other details yet.
