Avoid this Gunsmith in Calgary AB.

Twister at twister's gun shop in calgary ab

I contacted him to replace a broken trigger guard on a vintage .22 rifle.

I brought it in and he said that he would have to custom build it for me because normal parts are not made anymore.

He asked to keep it for a week and said that it would be done and ready to pick up.

A week went by and i called him and he said that he was not able to complete it. I said no problem i would wait another week.

Another week went by and he had not completed it yet. He said i should pick up my gun and he has the old trigger guard so he can finish the work without having the gun. he said that he had a guard replacement to last me till he finished the new one. I paid him in advance what he was asking for the guard and waited.

3 months went by and nothing. I contacted him by email and asked why it was not done. I got a bs reason, "other people brought in stuff and i had to get there work done. also i had some personal issues". Then he said that the money i paid in advance was for the cheap part to tide me over. and that the new part would cost more money..... but the part was done.

I responded and asked how much and when can i pick it up, because i still needed a replacement. No response, i emailed twice in total and no response called several times no response.

I would avoid this gun smith at all costs.

Below are pictures of the cheap part he put on my gun to "tide" me over which ended up being his costly replacement. Myself i could have done a better job.

I would go in to see him. Take the cheap fix he gave you and take your original part back and get your money back. If he has a problem with it, call the cops and claim theft. He does have your piece after all. Good luck on getting it straightened out.

I gave up trying to deal with him. He never answers his phone, no responses to emails, or to his face book page. I already have a new gunsmith in Calgary that i am dealing with, so i will get him to fix this disappointment of gunsmith's work.

That works too. LOL. It sure is hard to find quality service sometimes. I've been having fun trying to get a stock brought in with a company on here. Hope the new smith does better work than the first one.

I got the new smith to mount my posp on my cz 858 and he did an excellent job.

Pro Line Shooters is where i went. Great guys there. I recommend them forsure.

Twister's Gun Shop in Calgary? I never heard of them? Are they new?

Try giving Western Gun Parts a call (Edmonton). They'll most likely have a trigger guard. If not, you might be able to fix your broken one with some J.B Weld, sand it flush, and paint.

Have you tried posting an WTB add on the EE? You might be able to find an actual vintage piece, and quite possibly for a lower price.

But its good that you found a reliable smith. At least this was with a small piece. I have read horror stories about bad "gunsmiths" that cost the owner a lot more then a trigger guard.

Can't be! Not from Calgary's only gunsmith...:p

That is some seriously embarrasing work. To bad you had to endure that kind of service but you dealt with it properly. May be a blessing you found out what kind of guy he was on only a small job and not a more costly project.

Ok after the sharp and sarcastic remark from poster #13 I figured I would search this guy out. Found his website and consequently a few laughs. Stolen images and a small lecture on ###ual orientation and opinion don't add up to a "Master Smith" rating. WOW!

Not only is the guy getting a crappy reference on CGN, but he also sells King Optics. He goes all out on his "custom builds". I have seen better Tascos.

IF those are his daugters they certainly aren't hard on the eyes. But a few things just aren't adding up here. The original poster takes in a single shot cooey and he makes a mess and pisses off the poor guy who takes him on his word. When you look at his photos of his engraving I just can't believe this guy did that work but can't replace a simple part. Hell it was two screws! Now I don't know this so called smith so I won't get too carried away beating his reputation but something doesn't add up.

On second thought maybe I will have him scratch an image of his daughters on my next custom rifle.........

Based on Twisted's site he's a fraud. Before & After pics on the engraving page tell a story. The pistols for example show a beater 1911 magically transformed into a Browning Hi-Power totally covered in engraving including the "double stack" mag. What a scammer. I would avoid this guy at all costs with all the stolen pics I've seen other places long ago. Some really long ago!

If Twisted is your absolute last resort DO NOT PAY IN ADVANCE!!!!!
