Hello guys,

Just like the title says, I have 2 Win 70 CFR actions (new one made by FNH) that I'm looking to use for building two precision/hunting rifles.

These two actions are actually two Win 70 extreme weather s/s rifles. One in 30-06 (that will stay in the same caliber) and the other one is in 7mm Rem Mag that will either end up in a 300 Win Mag or 338 Win Mag.

The only parts I will keep are the actions. I want them to be blueprinted and mated with custom barrels and Mcm stocks. Cerakoted as well.

Remember, these rifles will be half precision and half hunting rifles. So, I don't want them to be as heavy as my PGW Coyote.

2 questions here:

First, what gunsmith would you recommend for these builds? I already have contacted the Chou brothers and, as I write this, they don't work on Win 70 for now.

Second, what steel (blue or s/s) floorplate would you use? Williams can't be exported from Brownells (I called today). Maybe Pacific tool and gauge?

Thanks for your suggestions :)

I can think of three guys, but they are far from you. Canada post is your friend.

Bill Leeper - BC
Bob Galloway - Alberta
Dave Henry - Alberta

For barrels - Bob Jury and Ron Smith, both in Alberta

Keith Cunningham in Minden ON. He's the CEO of MilCun marksmanship complex. He is known for building excellent precision rifles for hunters, police and military. His rifles come with an accuracy guarantee of a five shot group of 1 moa or less at 100 m.

I would round up the parts you need before sending the receivers to a gunsmith. Ordering from MacMillan and others is another chore that you should look after. You will pay a premium price for the gunsmith to track down the parts. I would recommend Custom Gunworx (Bob Galloway).
