I'm at a cross road here;
I have a S&W 1911 stainless. I have shot many, many rounds through, and have enjoyed it for a long time.
Some problems I have with it - (due to being left handed.) I need an ambi safety installed, slide stop lever grinded down flush with the frame. I would also like a flared mag well, for easier mag changes.
So;
Here is my choices, buy another pistol, (custom) or get the work done by a gunsmith?
If I do stay with the current pistol, what parts should I use for the ambi safety, and flared magwell, and why?
I need the slide stop level grinded down flush with the frame, because while shooting my thumb pushes it out - seldom leading to stoppages. What I would rather have is one that is already manufactured flush with the frame, if it's made.
There is only 1 (one) pistol I know has these features, that is the Spinger Operator custom. (Perhaps Night Hawk and Wilson as well.)
Please keep in mind when suggesting a part, i'm not interested in cosmetic appearances, strictly rugged and reliable parts.
I don't know much about after market parts for the 1911, as I prefer to keep it as simple as possible. I'm hoping some members here will know a thing or two more then myself.
What say you CGN?
