im looking for a clamp-on/barrel band style front sight base or front sight.
something like this but not as tall/bulky:

FrontSightBaseswebsiteflattened.jpg

basically i have a couple standard contour barreled stainless rifles that i would like to mount a semi-permanent yet removable iron sight system on. i figure ill just loc-tite the thing on for added grip.

even a basic barrel band that i can tap for a front sight, machine a dovetail into, etc would do. basically id like to dovetail, solder or tap the barrel band as opposed to my stainless barrels.

anyone offer anything like this? or is it something ill have to machine myself from a block of aluminum?
thanks in advance!

Do a web search for New England Custom Guns. They may have just what you need although the ring may have to be reamed to fit the barrel. Accra Glass with black die holds them and barrel band sling swivels quite well and can be removed with careful use of a propane torch if you so wish. Black Loc Tite really hangs on to them if the fit is good to begin with.

That is what I was thinking of. If you really want to remove it frequently I would drill it and tap it for an Allen head set screw that fits through the sight slot. You may want a small dimple drilled into the barrel surface to help center the screw and keep things locked in place. Not really sure why you want the slick option to begin with. I think a rifle is naked without a front sight. But, that's just me and lots of guys like 'em cleaned off.
