Gunwerks New Dangerous Game Rifle

It's got a limbsaver on it and the bolt has the fancy swirl like some of the Mushberg rifles. Great what is not to like?

Well, their definition of a dangerous game rifle is different from mine. A dangerous game rifle should handle like a shotgun and have open sights, even if they're only for backup. That looks like a target rifle with a big hole in the barrel. I can't imagine that thing is fast handling.

I agree with 9.3 a DG rifle should have open sights. Scope is useless at bad breath range.

There have been tests done ad nauseam that prove a low powered scope is faster and easier for target acquisition at close range than iron sights.

As a DG rifle I like everything about it aside from the stock, engraving, brake, finish.......

I have to agree with 9.3 and pounder, a DG rifle needs iron sights, good ones.

I agree that quality low power scopes are fast in acquistion and even have 1.5x5x20 on my DG but it is in QD rings so if it gets hairy, the scope can come off quickly without tools and the Express sights with the short range leaf are GTG.

YMMV.

I like clean barrel composite stock push feed big bore rifles so this is great. But the price tag? not so much.

A Sako Fibreclass with a CDS will get you ringing steel for under 2k. But that finish on the Skull is very cool. Complements their existing set of guns very well.

If your going to saddle a rifle with iron sights at least put two barrels under them.

The name is almost as off-putting as the rifle itself for me. The engraving with that finish was ok, but almost everything else seemed so cheesy to me. No sights, muzzlebreak, a stock that looks like it should be on a $500 gun on the rack at cabelas, all draw backs for me. No class. And for the pricetag I'm betting they're asking I could probably be into a "real" double. Give me the choice between a fine double and that rifle, hmm this will be tough... I'd rather have a CZ or Ruger and enough money for a hunt.
