Gunwerks Rifles

Hey thanks :)

No I'm not affiliated with them, my buddy just has been talking to me about taking the shooting course with him. I had questions about both the guns and the course because I knew nothing about them but they belong in different threads, being new I'm trying to do things right ;-)
I see your point about the price, 7000 is quite a lot o_O how much does it typically take to build a good custom and put a scope on it? Never done it myself

Barrel: $450
Action: $1100
Trigger: $300
Stock/Bottom Metal: $1000
Rings/Bases: $200
Nightforce Scope: $1800
Gunsmithing: $250

Total: 5100

Sort of a estimated figure, can save on some components depending on what you want, add about $200 for a bedding job if you can't do your own.

*Edit* oops guess I'm a bit late, didn't realize there were two more pages :)

You could build a custom rifle with the same stiller action as gunwerks in the range of ~$3500, but you will have a better stock with adjustable comb height and LOP for that price. Using a trued remington action (SPS base rifle), trigger and BM, around ~$2400. Add to either ~$2K for NF NXS scope, base and rings + $300 for load development.

Regardless of the price (in someone elses world, I suppose), the gunwerks rifle is 'their idea' of what a custom rifle should be for you, whereas having one built to your specifications saves you money and makes it your custom rifle, to your specs, body type, preferences, etc. I don't own a gunwerks rifle, but I have two M700 customs that with shoot just as well. But realistically, its the joker behind the trigger that's most important.

I think that for %99 of shooters there best bet is to get a rem 700 sps or a savage 10 screw a good barrel on it,do the trigger it throw it in a chassis(XLR is my choice) add great glass buy a rockchucker kit some dies and supplys, then take a coarse would be the best way to spend 7 k

Jamie will probably have to blow this away...but here is what I would charge for several different styles of tactical rifles

I had my hands on a Gun Works rifle last week, it was a really nice piece of kit. I did not get a chance to shoot it, but I played with it for quite a while, nice, but not $7000 nice for me. The basic parts could be assembled for a lot less and you would end up with the same performance and money left over for a hunt on which to enjoy your new rifle.
