So I obtained my Pal aswell as rPal a year ago.....

I finally purchased my first rifle...

Mossberg 715T flat top!!!!! From www.theammosource.com

Words can't describe how excited I am, knowing My first legitimate firearm is coming to me. I own some airguns/pistols, but this will be my very first powder burner. I honestly can't wait to one day give this to my kid, if I ever choose to have some.

While I was contemplating the SR22 or the 715T flattop, Of course I was purchasing 22lr ammo here and there, so when my baby shows up, I already got a crap-load, hehe :runaway:

There is a rally or outing roughly 2 hours away from Ottawa on Oct 28th, were you will be able to shoot zombies, pumkins, etc. They say you can bring your own firearms, or shoot thiers, Theyre also gonna have a .50 BMG there, and a few 50AE pistols too!

Im definatly gonna pay to shoot that 50, I want gun#### pictures so I can show all my buddys at work, "Hey look what daddy got to play with" :jerkit:

Im new to this hobby, and Don't really post on this, however i'm guilty to leeching asmuch knowlegde from this site as possible, HAHA

Im 22 years old... Anyone around 20-35 gonna be attending this outting? Also, if you got a picture of your badboy boss, err i mean mossberg 715t, post them

EDIT:: Oh BTW, if you guys recommend anything I do to my new purchase, let me know.

biting...good for you...it's a great gun.
But a word of warning. There have been issues with the Mossberg 715 with FTF (failure to feed) and jamming.
Maybe 1 in 10 rifles suffers from it.
But don't be discouraged...90% of the time it is the magazine...a weak spring doesn't properly feed the round into the chamber.
If I may make a suggestion. If you don't have a place to shoot the gun before the 28th, pick up a second magazine. In that way if you get out there and the mag supplied with the gun is faulty (mine was) you won't be disappointed.
And if both mags work that's a bonus...because I can tell you these guns are so much fun if you only have one mag you'll find yourself constantly reloading...the rounds seem to go thorough as fast as you can pull the trigger ;-)

Congrats !
Addiction ...hobby ..whatever you want to call it , main thing is have some fun.

But here is fair warning that these rifles do tend to create an affliction called " Accessory Acquistion Syndrome"

Won't be too long until you're in a circle of other gun nutz saying:
"Hello everybody I'm bitinginfo, and I like m'guns"
Group:"Hello bitinginfo"
...

As suggested, be wary. Snowflake turns to blizzard very quickly. You'll have to eat outside because the house is full of 'irons! ... .22's are just a start.

Enjoy the new rig, and welcome aboard!

Ok guys, heres the report;

Went shooting yesterday on my buddys land, wow, am I impressed!!!!!

I purchased
-3 boxes of winchester 333 Hollowpoint 36 grain copperjackted
-1 box of 525 Federal 36 grain Hallowpoint copperjacketed

I tested additional ammo, aswell, all in all, we shot about 1000-1500 rounds in this outing, Most of the time, I would load my mag to 25, without any issues and shot really fast and got NO stovepipes, FTE or FTF, none at all!!!

After about 10 mags worth, i noticed the rifle was getting dirty quite quickly, then we started to notice the odd FTE, This was actually quite rare, and only happened like once every 3-4 mags , and only after the rifle got dirty... the 22lr round is a dirty round, so this is to be expected im assuming... Didnt even stop the fun... I just cleared the stoppage and carried on dumping mags.

Man is this fun!!! Wow I honestly cannot describe how much fun we had...Im gonna purchase a A.C.O.G for this beast, and put a Mini Dr.Reddot site ontop...AFG, and some rail armor.... she will be complete and ready for any zombie Apocalypse.

My next project... A Tactical Ruger 10/22 SBR with Harris Bipod......Anyone know how short I can get something like this without making it restricted???

No fun shooting paper, i'd rather shoot up some stoves, old dishwashers, oh and old vans all on my buddys land =D

We did shoot paper though, zombie paper that is! Accuracy on the M715T was amazing!!! Was rocking the irons at the time, man o man, what a blast!!!

I will post a few pictures up here once i'm able to, gotta extract them from my Blackberry

Let me know how your outings and experiences with feeding this beast ammo went, would love to hear!

Lookout! Guns are a common disease that affect men of all ages. I bought my first rifle last fall and foolishly thought that one rifle would be enough to keep me happy for many years to come. That first rifle was a ruger sr-22 (which is now a badass unit!). While I'm still incredibly happy with it, it just wasn't enough. so i bought a mossberg 500 for backpacking/bear defense/fun etc. great gun, but suddenly having two guns wasn't quite enough. so I bought a Norinco M14 from wanstalls, $503 delivered to my door. now we're talking! At least now I have the three main staples of gun: .22, 12gauge, and .308.

The question is what's next?! keltec sub2000 9mm, even better yet a kel-tec su16 .223! or even a cool lever action in 45/70 govt. But that still leaves me without a nice bolt action like a Remington 700. lookout boys it's a disease!

here's a photo taken from my phone :D

NewAgeRanger...yup that is something I tell everyone that expresses a budding interest in shooting...you won't stop at just one...don't buy that first one unless you are prepared.
I should have learned. 5 years ago our (myself and my two young sons, then 4 & 6) interest in guns started after watching a Christmas Story. They got Red Ryders that Christmas and I figured that was it.
Thing is, I found myself in the basement after they were in bed plinking at the target trap we had set up.
So I bought an Avanti 853 for myself. That would do the trick.
Followed by a Slavia, 3 of the BAM AK lookalikes (one for each of us)...and now we have 11 airguns.

Last Christmas I bought a Savage .22WMR. Figured one good .22 should be good enough for all of us.
'Cept they wanted their own so they got .22 Marlins at the beginning of summer (one each). That should do it.
'Cept we all wanted a tactical look...covered by the Mossberg 715.
But man...we really wanted something with more 'bang'...so the Norinco M-14 found a place in the safe.
That should do us...except we've already decided there will be a 1911 under the tree at Christmas.
And a week or so ago a friend took us out to shoot some clays...after we get the pistol and the shotgun that will be all we need ;-)

Well done starting with a .22

Some join the hobby and right away jump to big calibres only to develop a flinch, etc.

The .22 is a fantastic, fun and affordable way to enjoy the shooting hobby. You are definitely hooked like the rest of us!

Keep having fun!

.22lr is a great way to perfect form without breaking the bank to feed it and a whole lot o fun along the way. enjoy it and shoot as often as you can
