Hey all,

Does anybody know if there's a Canadian supplier of these handgun safes?

I couldn't find anyone, but my friend bought one from safegunsupply.com in the US and selected Fedex Ground. It came to $195 USD including shipping and tax IIRC.

$182.94 with USPS flat rate international shipping. I grabbed the deluxe version, since it was only $15.00 more

Thanks for the info! I have a new safe on the way. ;)

The only issue I've heard of is with the biometric versions acting up. The one I ordered doesn't use it. All other reviews I've seen have been beaming.

I don't really put much regard in amazon reviews since the average joe schmoes that post them tend to be idiots, as a general rule of thumb.

True. Let's hope for a good one.

I assume you want one for legal storage with a loaded magazine(s)?

I'm thinking I'd like to mount it bolted through the floor, under a nightstand.

Yep pretty much. We have a bookcase with a space on the bottom on the right wall of the room. Going to mount the safe to the book case. Something like this:

I've had the deluxe for a good few months and it works perfectly. However, whenit first arrived it failed to open correctly. I called their CS and they said, put it on it's back end and hit the latch with a rubber mallot HARD. I (reluctantly) did that and now it works flawlessly.

a good buy in my opinion.

I saw a similar safe @ LOWES this afternoon. Needs fingerprint and combination or a key to open. I believe it retails to around $ 150.00
Though not as sophisticated as this GV200C, the fingerprint feature adds security to this safe.

As long as it is a safe and secured properly you can store a pistol with loaded magazines in the same container?? Sorry if its a dumb question or misplaced but the fear of "improper storage" has had me using separate rooms for each even... If this is in fact a legal awesome way to add some peace of mind to myself and family, I'm all ears!

In a safe, it is secured properly. You don't need any locking device on it, and you can store the ammo right beside it. You also can keep loaded magazines right beside the gun.

Firearms Act said:
STORAGE OF RESTRICTED FIREARMS

6. An individual may store a restricted firearm only if

(a) it is unloaded;

(b) it is

(i) rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device and stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into, or

(ii) stored in a vault, safe or room that has been specifically constructed or modified for the secure storage of restricted firearms and that is kept securely locked; and

(c) it is not readily accessible to ammunition, unless the ammunition is stored, together with or separately from the firearm, in

(i) a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into, or

(ii) a vault, safe or room that has been specifically constructed or modified for the secure storage of restricted firearms and that is kept securely locked.

Requirements you must meet to store a restricted handgun with no locking device, and a loaded magazine beside it (not in it):

Canadian Firearms Act, section 6:

(a) + (b) subsection ii + (c) subsection ii
