Hey guys so I am interested in a new semi auto handgun from Hk. I was hoping that some of the experts on here could share their knowledge and experiences when it comes to their pistol line up. Most the mark23 the usp and the p30Ls. I don't know much beyond basic dealer descriptions. Well that and the price varies quite a bit haha. Either way thank you all in advance!

two very different models. One is designed for carry and the other is some sort of combat-military-target hybrid gun made for Robocop, for a pistol, I consider the Mark 23 being way too big.

I would recommend that you invest watching at least a few videos online if you are going to order online, just for size comparison. You tube is your friend.

The other thing is, the USP design is a few years old and quite outdated in comparison to the P line. USP has been maintained because they try to resemble things found in most common north american designs, this seems to appeal to some die hard old school shooters in the US market.
The P line is their newest and most ergonomic design. Apple and Oranges really, like 1911 and a Glock pretty much. Two different beasts.

In terms of quality all HK handguns are outstading. If you want a state of the art polymer gun you won't go wrong with either one.
If you want something to compete in IDPA-IPSC your best choice is the P30.

Agreed. It would be best to try handling both the USP and P-series because they feel very different in the hand. Go with what feels best in your hand. The differences are all external/ergonomic. The internals between the USP and P-series are identical.

Other things to consider: If you need/want a light the USP uses a proprietary rail. There are adaptors, but the P-series uses a Picitanny rail. Holsters for HK's are not as common, especially for light combos.

IMO, if you're looking for a .45 from H&K, get the HK45 full size.

I cannot say enough good things about it. Shoots quite softly, straight and hasn't failed me yet. Doesn't like lead bullets because of the polygonal rifling, but I don't shoot those anyways, mentioning it as a FYI.

Parts..well...are a pain to get. I have a long list of parts and their sku numbers ready to go to an importer who'll be able to put a big order in from HKparts.net. This is IMO the biggest downside to HKs, especially if you shoot alot.

I owned two HK45s and try as I might I couldn't warm up to them--there were a few things about them that bugged me. I owned a USP Expert in .45--I enjoyed shooting that a lot. I had P30L with the LEM trigger that was super comfortable to shoot but the LEM trigger wasn't for me...if I were to try one again I'd get a P30LS. I've got a Mark 23 coming from a site sponsor--I'm a little apprehensive about its size but eagerly anticipating it.

P30L with LEM are not flattering guns. The trigger requires correct discipline and the shooter needs to know the fundamentals or the shots will be all over the place.

USP are an older design, but the V1 DA/SA trigger in my experience is more forgiving than P30L v1 light lem, if you take them apart side by side you can see the similarities, the P30/HK45 in my eyes are the USP evolved to near perfection.

Try them out. You can't go wrong with any HK pistol.

If the LEM had a slightly shorter reset I honestly would say that is the pinnacle of the hammer fired pistols. Because I would be at a loss to see how to improve it any further.
