The H&R YOUNG AMERICA BULLDOG revolvers were made in two models"
1st Model - 1888-1904 and 2nd Model - 1905 - 1923.
Both were built on the medium frame (the Young America series had two frame sizes - small 7 shot .22 rimfire and medium 5 shot .32 cal.) and chambered for the .32 short RIM FIRE round. Those made before 1904 are capable of shooting BLACK POWDER loads only and will have no cartridge stamping. Those from 1905 are capable of handling the higher pressures of the nitro/smokeless powders and will have the cartridge stamped into the left side of the barrel. Both models seem to have been offered with 2" barrels only, but can be found with either the standard nickel finish or less commonly with a blued finish. Standard grips are the molded, black hard rubber, but some will have checkered wood or mother of pearl grips which were offered as options.
