Just finished putting my SL8 back together after installing the HERA kit.

Install went pretty smooth, other than launching the index plate & spring across the room and not being able to find it for a while. :)

The directions are fairly straightforward. If you have a hard time seeing the pictures, there's a link on HKPro with larger versions.
The aluminum receiver is a hair tighter than the factory polymer one, but everything does slide back together fine.

Can't wait to take it out for a run.

Nice. Don't forget to add the pic to the SL8 thread in the photo gallery.

Did you happen to nitice if the parts list was not the same as what is acctually in the trigger? I notice the HERA list and picture are different that what is in my SL8 manual. The part # 71 they list as missing is #69 in my manual and is listed as the "slide". It is listed as 59a in the HERA insrtuctions. I think HK has fixed this error and re-issued the correct drawing and part list. There is also one less spring on the locking lever in the updated version.

holy franken hell... ITS ALIVE !!!!

now all you need is the KAC RAS for it :D

I am working on who we can get those from as we speak. I've contacted a few dealers to see who has them or if I can import them. :) I will post if I find a source. If you can get them of know of a dealer please post it.

Though it looks a hell of alot better with the H.E.R.A kit, I just don't like the look of a AR stock on it (I suppose I am picky).

How does it handle now? Does it feel more front heavy after removing the old stock?

It definitely feels a bit front heavy. I don't look at this as a CQB rifle however, so I'm not too concerned about it. More of a non restricted SDM or SPR setup.

I wanted a comfortable grip, and adjustable LOP as the primary benefits. I need slightly longer than the factory SL8 stock provides and my son needs it shorter, so the AR stock is a major plus.

I'll take some pics with various AR stocks installed sometime today...

I think it looks awesome.

Makes me want to get an SL-8 to go along with my Black Special. If you're gonna use it as an SDM-type rifle, you should see what a PRS stock on it would look like.

I have the AR stock adapter for my BS, but I'm not too happy with how it was made. It seems like the buffer tube could have been located a bit higher than it is. The way it is now, the AR stock sits lower than the factory. I might get someone with a machine shop to look at it.

The 2 non restricted out for a test drive.
Length of pull on the SL8 is now the same as an AR short butt length, 13.5". For me ideal with no other heavy outer clothing. This butt has 2 settings in further, and 6 out. This is one of the original Magpul 93, "Experimental" marked stocks. I still don't like what Magpul did with these, which is, fail to manufacture all or any of the promised accessories. They have also discontinued making the 93B. It is/was a relatively heavy stock and I'm assuming there were other issues that made it no longer a viable product for them. Still pisses me off that they didn't make the stuff.

The trigger on the SL8 is fantastic. Didn't change after putting it in the aluminium trigger housing. As mentioned, it appears the inside diamensions of the aluminium housing are a slight bit tighter than the plastic group.
I'm liking the Tavor more and more, but definately needs better optics. Leupold CQB maybe?

Shot a few groups with both @ 50 and 100yds.

That BS stock could use a cheek riser.

I agree, but with the buffer tube moved up the adapter even half an inch, it would make the riser unnecessary.

It would also make the gun look better. And as we all know, the LCF factor counts for a lot!

I'll send it to someone I know that might be able to work with it.

And seeing all these tavor pics is making me want one of those too... Damn you koldt. You have far too many toys. Wait, let me correct that. You can never have too many toys!!

A non-restricted in such a compact package is beautiful. I'd like to see a decent optic on one though, maybe a Nightforce 1-4. Does anyone have a good idea on the overall accuracy on them yet? Are we looking at 1-2 MOA? If it's good for 3" or less at 200m, I'd definitely be more interested in havign one.

The Tavor ain't mine. The SL8 is. After examining the Tavor, I think one will be on my next order. I like it.
I like the SL8 for the ability to put all the accessories on it. It's all about the bling.:p The LCF is very high when all the toys are bolted on. It only weighs about 35 pounds though.

The Tavor accuracy thing, I think, is hindered because of the trigger and optic combination. The trigger should probably get better with time. The optics, well, just need to be changed. I told my buddy to look at the S&B short dot:D. Easy for me to give out advise when it won't be my money.

Even with that, the Tavor was around 2.5"-3" at 100yds. The SL8, for the few groups shot at 100 was around 1.5"-2". We didn't shoot a lot. Too busy BSing.

Had a chance to put some different AR stocks on my SL8 today. For your viewing pleasure:

Man, that's damn cool. Where did you guys get those H.E.R.A kits?

Had a chance to put some different AR stocks on my SL8 today.

You can put AR stocks on an SL8? How do you do that? Does it require a conversion kit of some kind?
