H&k 243

Incredible me, do you have an SL8 or real G36 you could compare to? Im mostly interested if the barrels/barrel nuts are the same. I have a few G36 barrels laying around that I was hoping to throw on. Also, I saw a AR15 style magwell, want to make sure I can install a G36 magwell. From the pictures it looks to be the case, but if you have the parts, confirmation would be great!
Cheers,
Matt

Sorry I missed your post earlier.
Nope, dont have one to compare it too SL8's are expensive here and the G36 is illegal to own.
But HK says the G36 barrel will not fit.

Yeah I'm a Dutch guy on a Canadian forum, also on a lot of USA forums. Gun info in The Netherlands is VERY limited, so I get a lot of info from abroad (about 2% of the Dutch people own guns and about 20% of that are active on a forum, which is highly censored, think of Chinese type of censoring).

r34skyline: Not yet, Don't have it atm, I hope to get it somewhere within a month (long live government employees and paperwork)

sounds rough to be dutch...

but then you have an hk 243 and it will likely take us 3 to 4 years to get one here.

So how bad or good are firearm laws in the Netherlands? Its nice that they allow you to have a HK but do they allow you to shoot it anywhere? Im always interested in firearm schemes and ideologies of different first world countries.

remember, you asked for it ;)

- Background check
- You become a probationary member of a shootingrange
- You follow a shooting course (starting with airrifles, then small caliber)
- After 6 months you have to appear before a commission to become a full member
- You are a full member for 1 year
- You can buy a small caliber pistol or small caliber bolt action rifle
- After another year you can purchase a large caliber pistol or a large caliber semi automatic rifle (last part not sure, this is a new rule)
- After yet another year you can buy what you actually want, large caliber (max .308) semi-automatic rifle.

You can only own 5 fire-arms.
You have to store them in a safe (bolted to the floor or wall)
You have to store your ammunition seperatly (max. 10.000 rounds combined)
The police can come by at any moment to see if you have about in order
You have to renew your license every year (with a minimum of 18 trips to the range)
You also have to have a paper signed by 2 people that you are not crazy or in a difficult situation.

So it's a real hassle, but it's worth it imho :)

Other crazy rules involve:
You always have to take the shortest route from and to the range/gunsmith
You cannot leave your firearms unattended in your car (so picking up groceries on the way home is a no-no)
A rifle must be atleast 60cm long and has a barrel longer than 30cm
Pistols must have a barrel longer than 3 (or 4) inches.

Btw, if the rifle ever comes to Canada, get one. It's such a lovely rifle, feels good in your hands, ergonomic, nice to see and I bet it's a blast to shoot.

Holy jesus!!! Holy! Oh my god!
Unbelievably I now feel lucky to be in Canada with our stupid gun laws!
I guess you guys learned a few things about gun control from being invaded by the germans.

Uhm, so far every year I've owned guns (thats 4 years now).
They only come by once a year. But due to cut backs their department doesnt have the manpower to do it themselves, so they let streetcops do it. Always fun having a squadcar come by your house every night till they catch you at home and you can let them in.
Had multiple neighbours ask what I was doing with all those cops.

WW2 was after the regulations, before that our first queen (Whilemina), after a long line of just kings, banned all privatly owned weapons because she was afraid of riots against the monarchy. (This was back in 1890 or so)

Alot of your laws are the same as ours. But some of your laws are like "wow". The 5 firearm law stinks. Heck I collected close to twenty now in a few years. I couldn't make do only with 5 guns. Also the license renewal and 18 visits per year is very excessive I would say.

Are you legally allowed to hunt there with the fun guns? How about target shooting not at a range but in a field or pit or something similar? I realize the Netherlands is small but I would assume there is a limited opportunity to use a firearm not at a range if it is legal to do so.

What about magazine laws? Are your magazines neutered there the same as ours?

Hunting is illegal, unless you get a hunting permit (a hunter may own up to 7 guns, wierd huh??), then you have to "lease" a plot of land from a farmer of national institution to hunt on.
You can only hunt a certain type of animal and if the farmer has a pest problem, you HAVE to come and shoot stuff.

As far as shooting outside a range, nope, not allowed.

Thats the wierd part, we have no magazine restrictions here, everything is allowed.

Is there any actual ETA on these in Canada? I was never a fan of the SL8 but these intrest me without the thumbhole stock and full length rail. This with a Mag well conversion might be a sweet coyote gun.

I have an SL8 with a Hera Arms lower and ACR butt stock. Does away with the thumbhole. I love it as a DMR but look forward to the 243 as a lighter field gun. Just hope NS brings them in with NR barrels. As for mag limits. I believe Australia, Canada, New Zealand and some US states have any. the rest of the world realize that a criminal can circumvent that restriction too easily.
