H&k 416?

On another board that I belong to not CGS there was a similar post on gas piston uppers and the majority of respondents have seen the POF fail while on several firearms courses the one that has received the a better report is the LW and Barret gas piston setups but at this time Barret is making there piston guns in 6.8

As of Sept, there were only 2, 417s in North America. I was told it will also take the G3 mags, but I didn't see any go in.

Schveet. I read that only several early prototypes were designed to use G3 mags, they abandoned the idea for some reason with later developement models.
 
The old 417's took G3 mags -- but the USG wants drop free mags with the same mechanism as the M16FOW. The new ones cant take the G3 once anymore.

Lots of Hk416's running around here with high speed US entities.



POF's system is not even close to the Hk416 - other than both have a piston -- the HK is a short tappet type -- while the POF is a full length piston and like a FN FAL setup.

Some very good reviews of recent POF stuff at 10-8. One of the guys has run one thru several Pat Rogers classes... However the initial report where not impressive.


Ares has a drop in piston system -- Denny (Global Tactical) did a review on an install. I have a 10.5" Noveske / KAC URX being converted by him that I plan for a work upper. Unlike the Shrike this system is not vapourware...

We had to pass due to delays earlier. Still have valid export permits though. If you want to order a 415/416 we can get them as quickly as POF can ship, don't know what their current lag time is.
