Hi guys

I was wondering if someone could help me out.
I'm looking for H&K 416D 22LR.....can't really find anywhere and not sure if it's prohibited in Canada like the Sig 522 ( what a shame...such a nice rifle ) .
Do you guys know where and if it's available in Canada ?

Thanks

Hi jdman
yeap...looks awesome....MSRP is set to $559...Kal-Tec which is an alternative and all polymer build is at $499 and if you add the pistol grip with AR stock you be looking at another $130 which makes them pretty close in price and H&K is much better rifle.
Just could not find any answers on Google on H&K classification and availability in Canada .
For anyone interested here is the link to manufacturer's website...

From its appearance, feel, and operation, right down to the sling swivel incorporated into the stock, the 416 D145RS is a replica in every sense.

might be the catch for canada right here. Isnt the civvie version that is allowed into Canada called the MR223 or something, not the 416?

That would be fun to shoot :)
I've seen this one on the list of prohibited firearms for Canada - so I didn't even conciser that for my wish list lol
None of the lists have the HK 416 or MR on them or variants of those rifles as prohibited - that's why I'm trying to figure out why can't I find any for sale ...or even any info on classification of HK 416D.

Restricted would not be a problem...it would just limit the rifle to local clubs ...prohibited would suck :-(

I have one. I just moved back to Ontario in Aug. after being down in Texas for the last 6 years. Am still trying to figure out if I can legally import it with the rest of my prohibited firearms. The fit and finish are top notch. Very accurate and a lot of fun to shoot. I bought it for my wife to plink with while I was shooting my AR's. She has no problems hitting 3 and 4 inch swingers at 50 yards with a knock-off Aimpoint M4.

-->yellowsv..you are right...best to wait and give them a call
-->SATX...wow...awesome :) sweet looking rifle , isn't it ?...is that a shroud or suppressor ? How did you manage to get your wife to shoot with you ?? I've been trying to get mine to go with me for last 23 years...and no go lol
Main reason for me to get one ....besides looks , fit and finish is a price of amo...I already spend too much for my 40 , 357 , 270 , 12g and 308 calibers and trying to get something fun and cheap to shoot ...have a Remington 597HB...nice rifle , but doesn't rate too high on looks and fun factor lol

I do see a limiting issue here. The 416.22 is offered as both a pistol and a rifle. One can assume that the magazines for both are advertised as interchangeable. However, not an issue if it takes industry standard magazines, only an issue if the magazines are proprietary.

I know what you mean. I have various firearms chambered in 8 different calibers and 12ga. And yeah, that is the factory shroud they offer. I did have a suppressor while living in the states, but that was for my full size AR.

As for trying to get her to shoot, my wife had a very bad experience with firearms as a teenager. A boyfriend she was never really serious about pointed a handgun at her when she broke up with him. When we first started dating I was competing in SASS and IDPA, and had a shoot somewhere just about every weekend. I had to come up with some other way for her to be comfortable around guns, so I got her to join SASS strictly for the costuming aspects of it so that she could attend the state and national championships with me when I was living out in California. I was sneaky about it and slyly appealed to her female desires to wear fancy ball gowns and playing dress-up....

At SASS's End of Trail championships, she met many of the top woman shooters and one of them spent the time to really take her under her wing. At the end of the competition, she announced on the drive home that she wated to try shooting. I immediately went out and bought her a pair of 3-screw Ruger Single Sixes in .22 and had a friend at our shooting club watch over her on her first few range trips. She knew all about safe gun handling techniques after watching me for so long, but I wanted a 3rd party with her as she started shooting so that she wouldn't feel any unintended pressure from my presence. It really worked out and she had a blast.

After moving to Texas, she told me she wanted to start accompanying me on my hunts for feral hogs. At the time I was leasing out 640 acres and would hunt hogs throughout the year while waiting for whitetail season. The more she was introduced to the sport in a safe manner, the more interested she became until one day she told me she wanted a hunting rifle. I couldn't get to the store quick enough and I put together a nice Ruger M77MKII in .243Win with a decent scope on it. Unfortunately she has never been able to hunt with that gun. This was her first experience with a scoped firearm and we soon discovered some issues. She writes left handed, but plays all her sports with her right hand. She is left eye dominant, so using a scope on a right handed rifle was very difficult for her to get the hang of. She never felt comfortable enough in trying to take a deer without just wounding it, so we switched over to her trying out my AR's in 6.8spc with a red dot scope and a .308Win with a NV scope. She was uncomfortable with the recoil on those, but wanted a semi-auto after shooting mine for fun. I looked around and wanted something different than the S&W .22's everyone was showing up with. After handling a lot of the little black .22's that were hitting the market, including the GSG's, I settled on the HK416. If you get one, you wont be disappointed. That little HK is quiet enough though. As you can hear, the wind was louder than the rifle from 4 feet away.

Hi
That's an awesome picture :)
You are a lucky man...we do have lots woman shooters and socials at our clubs...but still no go..
I guess I will have wait till Tuesday do call and find out about the status of HK..my searches on line didn't turn up anything on it.

I wonder if it shares any parts with the .22 AR that Umarex builds for Colt.

Also, is the S&W M&P 15-22 related in some way? S&W is the distributor for Walther in North America and Walther bought Umarex back in the 90's

The issue I see with it is that its called an HK416, which would be a prohib as its full auto. The MR556 and MR223 are the semi auto, plenty of MR223's around. It may end up suffering the fate of then mp7 .22
If it is allowable it will almost certainly be restricted as its an ar-15 variant.
