H&k 416d

I saw a HK416 pistol version down in Arizona a couple weeks ago for $499. If only I was able to buy it and bring it home! For FARK sakes, Canada!

Yeah...our gun laws ...well..just puzzle me ....restricting Sig 522...because looks like 552..but it's a dedicated .22LR...but then - correct me if I'm wrong - the SL-8 is non restricted ...even this rifle has some of it's parts interchangeable with G36..which is derived or a variant of G3 ...which is on the prohibited list

Well, sorry to burst everyone's bubble... but it's both restricted -and- limited to 10 rounds because of the pistol version (no idea if the magazines are proprietary, but if so - might as well get an AR if you're going to be limited to 10-rounds...).

FRT 132980
- there are large capacity cartridge magazines available for the Heckler & Koch Model 416 "family" of firearms.
- these firearm Models are manufactured in both rifle and handgun configurations. The cartridge magazines are advertised by H&K as interchange between the rifle and the handgun; all H&K Model 416 Cartridge Magazines are considered "handgun" magazines. As handguns are limited to a ten shot magazine capacity in accordance with the CC PART III, S. 84, Regulations PART 4 Para 3. (1) (b) "The Former Cartridge Magazine Control Regulations", this limits the magazine capacity for both the rifle and the handgun configuration of the H&K Model 416 to ten (10) shots, despite the firearm being designed to use rim-fire ammunition.
NOTE:
- the Heckler & Koch cartridge magazine for this firearm at 10 shots capacity, H&K 416 Part Number 2245300 is an acceptable "handgun" magazine.
- the Heckler & Koch cartridge magazine for this firearm at 20 shots capacity, H&K 416 Part Number 2245301 is a "prohibited device" unless reduced to ten (10) shots capacity.
- the Heckler & Koch cartridge magazine for this firearm at 30 shots capacity, H&K 416 Part Number 2245302 is a "prohibited device" unless reduced to ten (10) shots capacity.

O.K....restricted it's fine :D ...just might have to get Mossberg 715T for NR fun lol
Now...where can you get one ?? ...and if the mags are interchangeable ....hmmm....get a little brother to 416D ??

Um, no. Other than being H&K products that fire bullets, the G3 and G36 have absolutely nothing in common. Well, I guess they are both overpriced... and made of metal...

That FRT seems to relate to the 416, but not the .22 model as it doesnt differentiate between the two (or center/rim fire)

It'd be like saying The AR15 = Ciappa upper.

im intersted but only if I can get one Sub 700$ Cad, and can get mags larger then 10 rounds.

Hi
So far I've seen the HK416D for $520 and pistol for $419 on some of the US websites......with our $ at 1.02 US I would think that it should be around the same down here

this limits the magazine capacity for both the rifle and the handgun configuration of the H&K Model 416 to ten (10) shots, despite the firearm being designed to use rim-fire ammunition.

says right there.

The FRT relates exclusively to the .22 rimfire variant and it directly references H&Ks part numbers. The 20 rounder is part 2245301 and the 30 rounder is part 2245302.

Having said that, the 416 appears to use the same magazines as the Umarex Colt M4, which is not made in a pistol version. As such, using those magazines would circumvent the prohibition order on the HK 416 magazines.

Could you legally use aftermarket hi-cap mags ? Not marked for the specific rifle ? I did go thru similar mag confusion with Berreta CX4 Storm...after buying from the local store...I got letter from ministry saying that I'm in possession of prohibited "device" ..here first thought was here we go..Walther G22 all over again..lol.....but after calling them , apparently my dealer sold me US version with 10 round mag stamped CX4 which wasn't pinned and there for not allowed to be used with the rifle...solved the issue by returning the mags to store and replacing them with 92fs mags...
Soooo...if aftermarket hi-cap mags are not marked for specific firearm ...and there is no limit on 22LR mags cap. even for restricted rifles...you should be O.K to use them ???

The issue I see with it is that its called an HK416, which would be a prohib as its full auto. The MR556 and MR223 are the semi auto, plenty of MR223's around. It may end up suffering the fate of then mp7 .22
If it is allowable it will almost certainly be restricted as its an ar-15 variant.

What was the deal with the mp7 .22? There are some real mp7's around. So why not a .22?

O.K
3 local stores and 3 strike outs ..no one has it...can't get it...one store called their distributor and it's not on the list and they don't have an idea what is the legal status of those firearms .......no email back yet from RCMP CFP

The fact that it's been issued an FRT number means it's been classified (as previously indicated, restricted). To have been classified means one or more parties submitted a sample/documentation for review.

It can be imported into Canada... and it can be sold in Canada. Whether or not this is feasible depends on the market for a restricted .22LR with 10-round proprietary magazines. That's kind of a kill-joy, so perhaps that's all the explanation that's needed.

O.K...got off work early enough to call CFP.....30 min on hold to find out that HK 416D rifle is restricted.....she could not find the pistol version in data base
Sooo..the rifle is restricted...we should be able to buy it in Canada...how come no one has it ?????
6 stores so far that sell HK...and no one has it on the list ...:(
