H&k 770 .308

Hk

These rifles are great!
They are accurate and handle like all fine European rifles, but the are costly and super hard to find...
The mechanics is serious business like their military counterparts.

i though i seen one at the gun show in calgary at the wolverine supply booth but i think it was 30 06. maybe its a different model im not to sure.

Nice, very realiable...
Don't think about reloading your fired brass!
1. You won't find them... It really trows out the emptys.
2. If you find them, they will be chewed and bent... and I'm not talking about the fluted chamber!

There's a few of them around, expect to pay about $1500 for a nice used gun.

X2

Another thing to look for is the scope mounts, make shure they are included with the rifle because they are special, read very expensive! Also a spare mag would be nice.

3. If you pick the brass up they will burn the living bejeezus out of your hand (learned this one when I was about 10 at the range with the Old Man)

H&k 770

The HK 770 is a more refined SL-7. The top wood has been removed from the 770 and the traditional H&K hooded front and rotary rear sight replaced with the traditional hunting sight. The 30-06 version is called the HK 940 it is a big gun and the barrel has slots cut into it like a muzzle break. The 940 has 21.6" or 550mm barrel and 47" overall and weighs 8.6 lbs compared to the HK 770 with a 17.7" and 19.7" barrel and 44.5" long and weoghs 8.05 lbs. In some of the information I have like the FRT files there were model 770's with 430mm barrels and 500mm barrels. I have a HK 940 that I am picking up in August with the scope mount. It's a big animal but I like H&K long guns. I will probably shoot it and then retire it to my rack or trade it for something unusual.

These guns are incredably accurate and reliable. I currently have a 640, but have fired the other models.
As stated before, it can be a challenge to aquire accessories, but thats some of the fun.
