H&K G36 Civilian announced HK243 S SAR and TAR

The problem I have with Bobby is when he was on the C-68 committee he threw all the black rifle gun owners under the bus, when he thought only Mil/LE should have them and had no problem with them banning them. As long as he made money and got his Mil/LE contracts that was okay with him.

Yes. I second your opinion. If Bobby holds true to past behaviour, it will be bad news for those civvies wanting an HK.

I can never understand why someone in business would intentionally reduce his market by 70%, what is his reasoning? Completely and incredulously absurd!
How is this guy even in business again, how can this guy even be approved for a credit card with a mentality like that.
People like that should never be allowed to operate a business, just common sense here guys, the more people want to buy the stuff I sell the more I will be successful.
A second grader understands this better than Bob it seems...

There is also the S Sar, the better looking one without all the tacticool shiate.
Basically a SA G36 on the outside anyway.

he figured that standing united with the gun grabbers would profit him more than supporting both gov and civilian ownership. I wonder if his actions actually resulted in any favortism from the LEO/MIL buyers in dealing with his company/awarding him contracts......

I've wondered that myself. I'm pretty sure (from reading between the lines of industry announcements) that CACP and their affiliated departments did in fact do that for his support of C-68. Hell, they directly and indirectly supported Wendy and the Coalition for Gun Control.

I hope that Bobby learns from Colt (bankruptcy/receivership) in the late 1990's (and many others since then) that government contracts come and go, but the steady stream of civilian sales is the factor that makes or breaks a company--particularly since overseas missions are winding down, together with demand.

Companies keep making the same mistakes with government contract vs civilian markets for hundreds of years

If we're going to be forced to deal with R. Nichols Pt. II I don't hold out much hope for these rifles becoming a priority for importation for a civilian market. The absolute worst buying experiences of my life was like with R. Nichols. Zero interest in servicing the civilian market. Talk about a major disappointment!

I read the posts from start to finish, and at first was incredibly stoked about a relatively affordable (and non-restricted) G36 coming to the Civillian market. Now, having read about Nichols being the importer, and the general shiesty experiences with him and his company, I feel like it's situation: no change. Not that I had $2500 +/- that I was looking to get rid of, but still.

I do have one question, and it is entirely a new guy question, but is there a separate HK distributor for their handguns?

Honestly does Nichols actually think he will do more sales on these rifles with LE/Military than he would with the civilian market? If this rifle is NR and takes AR mags you're looking at easily selling 10000 units at the price of selling to civilians. I don't see the CF or any police unit putting in a 10000 unit order on this and if they would Nichols would sure not get msrp on that, not even close.

10,000 units?

I beg to disagree.

Even the CSA VZ58 and CZ858's together don't have those numbers.

IF it's 2500-ish bucks and IF it's non-restricted they MAY sell 1000-2000 units.

Which is still infinitely more than the police/LE and Mil. end-users would purchase, as the G36 has been available to them for over a decade now.

If Nicholls is the distributor, we're likely to see very little imported at a time (aside from maybe a decent initial batch order). HOWEVER, when I spoke with the Nicholls/FN Sports rep back when I worked at a gun shop, he did say they were already planning on getting one into the RCMP for FRT verification, with the hopes of a N/R status. That was obviously before the turmoil, but they were already planning on the FRT for it.

Nicholls is finito. Hk is gonna be handled by another agency. I will now wait and patiently pray to own one of these in tan.
