H&K G36 Civilian announced HK243 S SAR and TAR

10,000 units?

I beg to disagree.

Even the CSA VZ58 and CZ858's together don't have those numbers.

IF it's 2500-ish bucks and IF it's non-restricted they MAY sell 1000-2000 units.

Which is still infinitely more than the police/LE and Mil. end-users would purchase, as the G36 has been available to them for over a decade now.

If Nicholls is the distributor, we're likely to see very little imported at a time (aside from maybe a decent initial batch order). HOWEVER, when I spoke with the Nicholls/FN Sports rep back when I worked at a gun shop, he did say they were already planning on getting one into the RCMP for FRT verification, with the hopes of a N/R status. That was obviously before the turmoil, but they were already planning on the FRT for it.

You better check your math on the CZ-858 family of firearms. Well north of 10,000 have been imported and sold. Marketed properly, with a decent distributor, and keep the mark-up reasonable, the HK could sell like hotcakes and displace rifles like the XCR and potentially fill the void left by the Swiss Arms.

^This. :agree:

And to everyone complaining about Nicholls (son) being the new distributor and how nothing has changed, read further back in the thread. Nicholls is the Mil/LE distributor ONLY. A new civilian distributor is to be appointed after Shot Show.

Although personally I think it sucks we have to wait another couple months before someone is appointed with the responsibility of submitting a sample to the RCMP for FRT.

Anyone wanna do the Canadian firearms industry/gun nuts a huge favor and personally import one for FRT on their own dime? Please? Anyone? You'll be the first one in the country to own one when it gets a Non-Restricted FRT/your gun is returned 2-3 years down the road...f:P:2:

Swiss Arms was introduced to the Canadian market in 2001. Approximately 2,000 units were sold prior to their reclassification earlier this year. That's about 150 guns per year. And those guns were brought to the market long before there was competition in the form of Tavor, XCR, ACR, etc. For many years, Swiss Arms was the only decent non-restricted "black rifle" out there and they still couldn't move more than 150 units per year. Anyone who thinks there is demand for 10,000 civilian G36's in Canada is dreaming. The market for $2,500+ rifles is very small. Realistically, they could sell maybe 200-300 guns initially and 100/year after that.

Returned in what condition?

Frankly, don't - it was that type of BS that got the SCAR prohibited

Returned in what condition?

Well with the skills we can assume the "professionals" at the firearms lab have based on some of the decisions they have made....likely BROKEN....or at least would require reassembling by someone who knows firearms to function....

Right, but if we ever want it on the Canadian market doesn't it have to happen at some point regardless?
If they were going to classify the SCAR prohib it would have happened eventually anyway...blame the idiots at the lab, not the people who brought the gun in on their own buck to speed up the FRT process...

the swiss was always over $3000 per unit, at times from what i remember pushing close to 4k. For a rifle that's not that easy to customize, although the build quality is excellent. But the rifle lacked the flattop and other accessory mounting position. if this rifle is priced at 2500 or less. IT will sell well.
