H&K G36 Civilian announced HK243 S SAR and TAR

As quoted it IS R Nicholls, they are THE importer for HK in Canada; although you may be able to get a US made version from a place like I Run Guns. Problem is then the barrel will only be a 16" barrel.

However to be fair; when I talked with one of the R Nicholls guys just after Shot Show (doing orders for my old job); he had said they are already talking with the RCMP about submitting a sample for approval, so YES they are working on it.

I would not even expect to see these rifles for sale in the USA before 2 years, plus the RCMP taking their time on approving things (although due to HK being very familiar with Sporting / Mil. versions of guns due to THEIR gun laws) I would not expect any issues with a non restricted (or restricted due to barrel length) FRT for it, assuming those kinds of guns are still legal to own at that time!

This is one of those things that will take some time, I will definitely be picking one up (probably basic with the nicer stock) if black (or tan :p) rifles are still legal to own in 2-3 years! :p

Well, in deference to what you and Aniken67 has mentioned, I hope that R. Nichols gets more into civvy sales than they have in the past i.e. realize that they can make a whole lot of money doing this--as opposed to passively "sitting on the product lines" (quote from Rebel Rouser) and not selling anything, maybe except for some token samples.
This approach has really hurt our (Canada's) market because suppliers see that sales (through passive distributors like Nichols) are minimal. They don't realize it's at least partly due to an apathetic sales approach on the part of their distributor (such as Nichols).

Axe grinder alert:
This (see above) was highlighted once when I tried to get some product from Nichols, and was refused (as my order was too small for them to give a sh*t). It was a few thousand rounds of match brass. I ended up calling the US manufacturer to see if I can just order direct from them or US retailer and was told to call the Canuck distributor (nichols).
I told them that I'd"been there and done that" and about how the distributor wouldn't help me with the order. The manufacturer freaked that a willing customer had been turned away so willingly/easily....
Moral of the story: US (and other) suppliers should chose their distributors a bit more carefully if they're looking for actual sales...

With the changes required to sell to civilians, will these have the same reliability/durability as a real g36?

I don't see why it can't if I am not mistaken the firing system is put together so that you can't put the fa trigger in there, other than that it's the same hardware in there.

I can't believe you used this gif. Hilarious sir.

^^I'd go for the HK if the price isn't so wacky. But that's only because I always wanted a credible G 36 copy, which up until now wasn't in the stars.

We're all giggly like teenage girls over this firearm....:)

why do people want/expect it to be at such a low price, currently the SL8 is cheaper than an XCR and of much higher quality. In the non restricted game there really will be no competition for this rifle at it's price point regardless of what that ends up being IMO.

Pretty much the only rifle that would make me consider selling the SL8.

had i known about this earlier I probably would say id buy one, but my Ar180b currently fills that role and at that price i think it prices me out, but i think id still buy one in 5 or so years....the money will come and i doubt the rifle will be replaced any time soon.
