H&K HK53 / HK33 fans where are you ????

I played with a FA 53E. I loved it....it was the best magazine unloading tool I had fired to date....However, if I could ever describe a gun as being "angry", it was it! lotsa blast and concussion...mind you I was shooting indoors.

If I reacall the SAS or SBS used the HK 53 for a while and it worked pretty good for them.
I view it as a scaled up mp-5 and would love to get my hands on one of them.
If I get rich and move to the USA I'll get a FA one :D

My cousin did some plainclothes work in Belfast (late 80's), his back up consisted of a couple of RUC plainclothes (with 32 acp Walthers) and a car full of SAS with HK 53's. Apparently even the best protection wasn't very comforting.

That is kind of it's charm to me though, that it is licking the envelope. The SAS and Royal Marines used it, and many SWAT units have used it, so it must have been effective for the role it had. Mainly close support I believe.

They are rare, but around, and expensive.

Quebec city's GTI (groupe tactique d'intervention -> swat) uses the HK53, with an Elcan mounted on it, although their phasing it out and are getting spanking new HK416's

Hk53+elcan is a freaking heavy bundle...

Used both HK33's with scopes and the HK53 for about 4-5 years at work. Not bad guns, but heavy bastards with the scopes for a .223. Used them as they had the same controls as the MP5's the entry monkey's used to use. Hated cleaning them though as they got dirty real fast. Used to just do the quick clean on them and pour more goup n oil on the bolt. Once a month they would get cleaned properly. Downside is that if some part broke in would be a month of Sundays before you could get a new part from Nicholls.
