H&K Mark 23

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a huge advantage of putting a thread protector on the barrel for the Mark 23 I was told it was not needed because the threads where so big but I just would like to know what other people thought of that because I put 150 rounds throught it today and seemed to get really dirty in the threads fast???

I have a Mark 23. I like it a lot, mainly because I have large hands and it is a good fit. The Expert is the way to go if you want a USP - the weight, longer slide, match trigger, and low profile rear sights make it a very sweet pistol. I've often regretted selling it, but my wife says I can not afford to have both (we've reached an agreement, which is that I can have $3K invested in guns, and that is it).

I might consider selling my Mark 23 soon, so that I can try out an SL8-4.
 
If I'd ever get an HK it be a stainless USP with a match trigger, but I won't consider it till they'll have a model with interchangeable backstraps or smaller grips.

Mark 23 and other 'fancy' models are ugly as hell IMO...plain USP esp stainless is not bad.

I personally can't justify paying more than ~$1100 on ANY gun...but if I had a few grand to blow on one gun it's probably be a custom 1911 like a SIT Exacutive :)

that is exactly what I was thinking of getting. I have a Custom sport, but I like the looks of the stainless. A USP expert with a stainless slide would be pretty bling-bling, but I don't believe the expert comes with that option. I have the part number, but it will probably be expensive for the complete slide.

Don't do it, well I guess if you have to, I've read some usa reviews on the sl8 and they seem to be prone in cracking around the mag well. Seems odd for a .223 cal and from HK to boot. I won't sell the handgun on the premise of Martins horsesh*t. If AR's are next then I guess all semi's will be too. Rob pm me on the extra mags if you are selling. thanks, John
