I've read the mk23 is the civilian version of the mk23 mod 0 military pistol. But the the usp catalog says it's "nearly" identical". Can anyone tell me the differences between the mk23 and the mk23 mod 0?

It dosen't have US property stamped into it. Not sure that anything else is different at all.

The barrel standards are different. One is made to MIL standards the other civi.I think the militatry is made to SAAMI headspace spec's the civi isn't.

I thought the barrel threads were in the oposite direction to prevent a US military silencer from being used on the civie pistol.

I fired HkMark23's at the range last year, really cool. Worked very well and was easy to control.
I think the only difference are superficial, aside from what HkMark23 said.

I know that the thread directions are different for the Mark23 and the USP Tactical.
