H&K SL7 Magazine Ejection Query

A question for SL 7/ SL 6/ HK 630/ 770/ 930 Owners (as I believe all these rifles use the same action):

Does your magazine eject free on an open bolt ? On my SL 7, it only seems to eject on a closed bolt for some reason. When I try to eject the magazine on an open bolt, I can hear and feel the magazine catch disengaging the magazine, but the magazine does not drop out. On a closed bolt, the magazine almost flies out! Other than this anomaly, it functions great! I only have the three rounder magazine and don't have any other magazines to try out.

Any assistance would be appreciated as a little confused on how to go about fixing this (if it is indeed a problem).

Is the mag follower your bolt hold open?

The rifle doesn't hold the bolt open when empty (at least per my knowledge). The bolt locks back through an external lock on the charging handle that is manually engaged.

Chatted with the Corporate HK Armourer in Germany and it appears that this condition is per-design.

He also confirmed the same via email,

Our example Rifles in T&E function in the same manner. Also based on my inspection this is the correct function for the gun; as when the bolt is closed there is sufficient magazine spring tension to push the magazine out of the gun. When the bolt is locked open, there is no spring tension to push the magazine out, and must be pulled from the gun.
