I was looking at an SL-8 the other day, and other than the silly looking, long plastic rail, I thought it to be a decent rifle. Is there a version being sold in Canada, with the shorter aluminum rail, or is there a source of the shorter aluminum rails in Canada?

Can get the shorter rail at Wolverine I think.
I would personally go with the one from SPUHR, it's pricey but worth it, also, the magwell conversion from SPUHR is top notch (freely use any AR mags, pmags, stanag, and LAR 10 rounders).

Calgary Shooting center had one on the shelf awhile ago.

SL8-4 has the "short" rail that looks a litle like a cary handle (tho it's not).
I bought one a few weeks back and am quite impressed at how well it shoots. The short rail if great for mounting optics. I put a Leupold Mk4 4-14 on it and I really like the combination.

Prairie Gun Traders website is showing one in stock, and so is wanstalls. PGT awesome to deal with. I bought the -5 because it came with removable sights, then bought a UTG low profile rail to replace the long rail. I love my sl8, it's accurate, fun, but a little front heavy.
