lol... the UMP was nice... but honestly I didnt think it was 6K nice...especially with 5 rd mags... It seems sort of bulky kind of like lego with an attitude? I suppose theres only a few UMPs in the country so thats why theres a high premium.
I think Wolverine may have a used one in stock. It was on their website before they switched to the new site. I saw it at the Calgary gun show. I think it had an AA date code, if I remember correctly. Looked to be in very good (but not excellent) condition.
Actually the MP5 in 40 and 10mm were (and still are) outstanding weapons. The MP5 is a very durable weapon platform. There were a varity of reasons the 40 and 10's were discontinued but durability was not one of them. The MP5 in 10mm was adopted by the FBI and is still in wide spread use with their SWAT Teams although the Colt M4 is starting to replace it. The MP5 in 10mm using full power ammunition will penetrate soft body armour yet still has less pressure and muzzle blast than a 5.56mm weapon.
HK sells weapons world wide and 10mm is not a big seller outside of (or within for that matter) the United States. The market dictates what calibers will survive. There are many who still promote the 10mm as a great carbine/subgun round or better than other "pistol" rounds for the purpose it was intended. It's too bad that 10mm has died off so to speak.
