I recently bought a brand new USP .45 from Wolverine Supplies. I just had a quick question regarding discrepancies that I am seeing on the gun vs. what H&K has on their website.

The two primary discrepancies that I noticed are:

1. On the left side frame of the gun, by the magwell, my gun has "USP" engraved in it. However, on the website, the same gun is shown with "HK USP"

2. Inside the gun, by the hammer spring, the internal locking mechanism is not present on my model.

3. At my local gun store, Target Sports, I handled a USP Tactical and found that the frame of that gun had the same above two inconsistencies as well as a blue-colored hammer spring. The USP .45 that i examined at the same store did not. It appears that my lower frame is that of a USP tactical.

Is this the case? What kind of gun do i have here?

Your thoughts?

sounds ok to me. hk has changed markings over time. i've owned 2 tacicals and a 45. i guess i was too busy shooting them as i never noticed this kind of stuff. also us hks probably have different markings fom euro hks

This may? or may not help?
HK USA is a different entity than HK Germany, I trust that the pistol you have came from Germany, and is marked accordingly?

There is no shortage of "SME's" on the site. You will get an answer ASAP

I wouldn't be worried at all about your USP. The newer model USP's have "USP" on both sides of the frame by the magwell. Older model USP's have "HK USP" and the patent number on the opposide side. I'm not sure what year this change was made. What is the date code off your USP?

My guess would be that the internal locking mechanism was removed by the importer or dealer prior to you taking delivery on it. I do not have it on either of my USP's

You'd have to look at the date code to see what year the USP's were made to make an accurate comparison. The 45 caliber USP's all share the same frame (USP, Elite, Tactical, Expert), and the 9mm and 40 caliber versions of the USP share a different frame.

As for the markings on the pistol, please refer to this page

As for your pistol, you have a 45 caliber USP, probably a new order, perhaps a AK or even BA date code?

Just posted the link to show there are a pile of variants on the pistol and even more when comparing U.S. to German products. Shoot it and enjoy, highly doubt you bought a counterfit.

I believe all the new guns have a laser engraved HK on the slide instead of a machined in one.
As for the frame, they took out the HK logo I think past 2001.
Yours is a later production.
Feel free to ask out the folks on hkpro.com if you have further questions, and congrats on your new Heckler & Koch.
