It's a bit trickier than, say, a Beretta 92/96 or an M&P, but it's doable. I can do mine in under 30 seconds now that I've had practice.

At first, the slide stop may be a bit hard to push out - use the nose of a FMJ round or the tip of a ballpoint pen to push it through if you need to. Eventually it loosens up (and your skill improves) so that finger pressure can get it far enough to pull it with your fingers from the other side.

Any more questions, PM me and I'll walk you through it.

USP is the easiest handgun to take down I've ever owned.

Pull the slide back a bit, pop out the slide stop, and off it comes. Can't get much easier than that. 1/2 the steps of a 1911!

there is a slight notch in the slide where the slide catch will slide out pushing RH side to LH side. you will have to pull back on the slide a few mm's

Before you try to field strip it, make sure that the internal lock is in the "off" position (see owners manual). Otherwise, you will damage the pistol.

First of all you have to take the empty mag out, the pull back the slide until the notch on the left side of the slide lines up with the Slide Lock Lever pin; push the pin out and slide the slide forwards, and off the gun. super easy

internal lock?? I don't have a manual, is there a key for it?
Some USPs come without internal locks; however, most seem to have them. Take out the magazine and look inside the magwell. If you see a round thingy with two little holes just below the mainspring, you've got an internal lock. The gun is unlocked when the two holes are in the vertical arrangement (one above the other). If they are side by side, the gun is locked and you should not attempt to rack the slide until you unlock it. Otherwise, you'll bend the hammer strut.

I believe it's only the USP's that are imported in to the USA that have the internal lock. Neither one of mine have, nor do about a dozen others that i know of locally.

My 9mm has a lock; my dad's (newer) .45 does not.

well I just took it to the range and I really like the trigger pull, I have a M&P and my buddy has a glock and we both noticed the differance. I might have found my new favorite handgun(next to my kimber) and you guys are right, take down is really fst and easy.
