Hi everybody! I am new here and I apologise if this thread in wrong category. I have a question for gun professionals. Is it possible to get in Canada (Ontario) H&K VP-70 of any version. It is 9mm pistol , pretty old but I like it. And any ideas how much it will cost ?:sniper:

There were some semi auto VP70's sold on the west coast during the mid to late 1980's, I think Lever arms was the culprit (at that time Lever was an amazing place). Very interesting pistol, someone here may have one or they may have magically vanished when their green slip expired. If the Ottawa Citizen still has it's database posted you could check for registered VP 70's.

So... do you know how to check their awalability ?
They were imported into Canada and are classified as restricted, so in theory it's possible to buy one. In reality, there's not many of them around, so unless you are lucky or persistent, it won't be easy to find one. If you REALLY wanted one, you could find one in the States, where they are more readily available, and import it through Questar.

Heres mine and some other Vp stuff.

Yes the trigger is pretty brutal but it makes it up in the accuracy dept if you can master the pull on the thing. Its a fixed barrel as you can see plus its HK rifling make for an accurate system but that damn trigger, why?

I just take it up slow be patient and I can get some pretty good groups with the thing. But you tire quickly and its definetly not a gun you can shoot all day long. The good thing about it though is after firing this every gun you have with a ####ty trigger pull feels like match grade.

I use it for just that purpose.

The ad and price are from this months guns and ammo. : )

It was the first semi with a DAO trigger (it came out almost 20 years before Glock 17), so I guess they were still experimenting with trigger pull back then.

Really a long way ahead of it's time, especially in the use of polymers. It's too bad we didn't get a shot at the ones with the removable butt stock and fun switch.

A far nicer gun than the VP-70 is the HK P9s. It is the bottom one in the poster with 4 guns, and has a similar profile to the VP-70. Unlike the VP-70 the P9s has a beautiful DA trigger (and also SA) and is a dream to shoot.

Bad news is that they are Prohib, but there are a bunch of them around with slightly longer barrels to make them restricted. The original barrels are 102mm so only 3 or 4 mm extra are required to make them restricted, so they don't really change the look of the gun.

Yes, the machine pistol version, VP70M I believe...that would have been a lot more fun. I bought one of the Lever VP70Z guns, and the trigger pull was so heavy...it was very much like a staple gun except twice as heavy...truly unbelievable. It was nice back in those days though with 18 round mags...a quality gun although ridiculous with that trigger.

Forget about getting one...believe me. By the time you empty one mag you'll have finger cramps.

Apologies to Tank Apocalypse for hijacking his thread, but where did you see P9Ss with extended barrels and how much do they go for?

A buddy was at HK in the US a while ago for his KH armourer cert. He got to go for a tour of the grey room. He took some cool pics of the collection. One being a VP70Z with the stock. They made semi auto only VP that when attached to the stock remained semi only not tri burst like the High power.

I'd sell a nut for one.

Heres a video of the VP70M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j-2j8FjFSY

Cool vids...but feh...the Glock 18 is much cooler.

Nah no way, its just full auto, but a gun that becomes full auto(ok tri burst) when you attach a very cool looking stock.

No comparison the VP wins the cool factor

Have to agree, the stock/holster and the tri burst control - (this is the only application where burst control makes sense) way cool.

I looked at one while I was in the Army posted to Germany in the '80's but the trigger pull stopped me from buying it, the 18 round mag was cool then, it was just that damn trigger. I'm pretty sure I saw one sell in the EE here in the last year.
