I am bidding on a VP70Z. I have been reading, however, that these guns were notorious for long and heavy trigger pulls. Is this something that could be significantly adjusted? I'd appreciate any info. Thanks.

The VP70Z was a short run made by HK in the 80s (thank god it was short)
The triggers are really at best HORRIBLE and there is not much that can be done to solve the problem as it is mostly a design thing

Thanks for the info. Thats a shame. I always liked the appearence of the gun, recognize it has some collector value but was also hoping to enjoy shooting an HK for not alot of money.

I got one and yes I agree, the trigger sucks. I found this at Numerich's site, a spring! http://www.e-gunparts.com/productschem.asp?chrMasterModel=1570zVP70Z I plan on picking up another firing pin spring http://www.e-gunparts.com/product.asp?chrProductSKU=727000 and cutting off a coil or two. I know this spring is the one used for striker (firing pin) engery for hitting the primer BUT I don't ever use hard primers (ie. military ammo). That is where the problem is. This should make the trigger go down from a heavy 20 lb trigger to a nice 15 lb trigger :) (nice for a VP70Z that is)
Good luck!

Monster Mike thanks for the info. Is the Numerich spring a different weight than the factory spring? Would one need to cut off coils to modify the pull. I was thinking more in line with maurice's suggestion about polishing parts. Maybe both could work. 20 pounds. wow. At least my trigger finger will get stronger. There's always a bright side.

if it has the hammer strut, then it can be polished. I will look at the schematic and get back to you if I see anything. Have you taken it apart yet, and if you did, did you notice and galling where metal meets metal?

Thanks Maurice. Looks like a great website. As for the gun, I do not have posession of it yet. I am currently bidding on it (on another site) but I anticipate winning it. I'd appreciate any more suggestions.

the Z version is "civilian". The version on the video has the 3 round burst. First polymer pistol. The reason I believe the trigger is so heavy, is because of safety reasons for non -civilian version.(3rd burst AD).

I am confused, what spring is compressed to hit the firing pin?, I have to look at this closer.

I've shot one, and have to agree, its like shooting a very heavy, not so smooth double action revolver. That being said, if you aren't in a hurry you can stage the trigger with a bit of practice if you've got strong fingers. Of course, if you don't have strong fingers, you won't be able to pull the damn thing all the way back to fire. Other then the collector angle, it's not something i'd spend money on, (unless it was a really good deal:rolleyes: )
Different certianly. Had huge mags, 17 or 18 rounds i think. Oh , the good ole days....

Tnx bbuffett, I just recieved the Wolff springs and they rock! What a differance. Now I have to wait for the snow to clear before I can try out my newly retro'ed VP70Z trigger!

Im getting one soon maybe you could let me know what you did and how easy it was to put in, these are very cool looking guns.

By the way you know some japanese or chinese company makes a repro VP70M stock for there airsoft stuff.

Now it wont hook up to the back of the gun but it might still be ok as the holster
